I have a 32" Technika lcd 32-207 TV on the bench which is has started getting stuck in standby. It normally power-up from cold fine, but if I power down after say half an hour it then refuses to come out of standby till it's been 'resting' for a while. There are no bulging caps but the voltage across the main 220uF cap is 337v. Any ideas??

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
Look for a good secondhand board off e-bay (£20) ish. Do barter with board sellers , i have had as much as 30% knocked of some board prices. There is a kit for the psu board if it is a vestel like tom says .. Sounds like maybe a dried out cap in the psu , do you have an esr meter , without one it's guess work...Last edited by Techstar; 01-24-2013, 01:29 PM.Comment

No ESR meter I'm afraid. That said, I've already replaced most of the caps but the fault's still the same.Comment

I would start with replacing the 4 smallest caps on the primary side of the

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
I have a feeling it might need a kit. The price of a kit would probably be not much less than a good second hand board. When i see kits at £20 or a replacement board at £25 it's easy to see which is the best option. Could be on the primary side yes i agree. Maybe a high resistance start up resistor or a cap like you say. The prices of some kits for what they have is a bit of a rip off ... .....Last edited by Techstar; 01-24-2013, 02:05 PM.Comment

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
This model, it's the two 15nF 630V~1000V capacitors at top of PSU. Swap 'em and it should sort it though I prefer board swap with this model, cheap enough. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Replaced the 4 x electrolytics on the primary side and the 2 x 15nF caps. . . problem still there.Comment

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
There's your problem. It should measure 392V when running. I had this same issue with a Sanyo. I swapped the PSU, the cost of repairing the PFC voltage boost was excessive compared to the PSU price. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. What fails in the PFC? (There doesn't seem to be that many compnents in that part of the circuitry).Comment

I never figured it out after replacing almost everything in it. The only thing I didn't replace was the PFC IC.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
Power factor correction is just another annoying add on we could do without.
It's like having a tooth filled that don't need filling. It makes the tv a little less of a gas guzzler from what i understand. Yet adds complexity and is just another thing to go wrong,, I got 2 pet hates = lead free solder and the pfc in a psu.Comment

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
Bit of a naive question but is there no way of disabling/bypassing the PFC?Comment

Re: Technika lcd 32-207 intermittently sticking in standby
Not really as the PSU is designed to operate on 392V +/-10V. When at 337V it struggles to maintain the 24V output. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Right, I understand. Looks like it's a replacement board then.Comment

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.
Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today.... -
by fharris1977Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.1 Photo

by CrystaleyesHi all.
I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.
Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.

by reessiHello,
I am trying to re-purpose this power supply that I saved years ago from a tv with a cracked screen for a monitor but that is not really that relevent at the moment. I do not recall which tv but a google search looks like it is from Wharfedale LTF37K1.
You may notice I made some alterations moving some components to the top and some wires which are from a 5v regulator I fitted to the 12v output as the monitor requires 5v. The standby was already at fault from the beginning, it has nothing to do with the alterations...
Years ago it had some bulging caps... -
by psssstHello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. I've searched the manual for eco...
