Went and got voltage from EEPROM - U18 and this is what I got. Can anyone let me know if this is reading right or is this a way to tell if it is indeed defective? Not sure if anyone has tried to pull the voltage ever from this Chip.

Just Ordered the New one just in case.

Re: Another E470VLE with "Orange Light of Death!"

I took the boards off to do some underside checks and see if there were any bad soder points but everything looks fine no cracks or looseness. But I did see this on the PCB. Yes I know sometimes there is some white stuff on the boards but this is interesting. I see it on three different components in a certain area and two when I pushed them closer to each other it isn't tall enough to touch the other component in the same area it has white stuff. Also the resister standing strait off the board has a little bit on it also. Any explanations? I will be ordering my EEPROM tomorrow Waiting on paycheck to clear.

        Meanwhile thought that was weird.

Thanks to all that are very patient with me!

Someone please circle the areas I should test further also because some of this doesn't look familiar to me.

That is white elsstic glue, they use them a lot to hold the caps and small components in place during wave soldering.

So budm you think this EEPROM is the issue?

Re: Another E470VLE with "Orange Light of Death!"

I have a working E470VLE main-board, I took measurements with the TV is in stand by and then power on.

              measurement in stand by:
              only U4= 3.28VDC
              F1 FUSE= +5VDC

              Measurement TV power on:

              See picture.

The sound like an EPROM problem

              hope this help

Ill check it against mine here on a minute. Mine just stays with orange vizio logo on "standby" mode. Nothing ever shows on the screen or even attempts to come on at all!

Ok checked it against mine. I get 5v at the fuse on both sides. So while waiting on the EEPROM I will re check solder points where you suggest. Since I cannont check any connections that would have voltage with tv on.

                    you didn't check U4? Its a 3.3 volt regulator

I am checking it now. I realized I forgot to check that. I haven't re soldered anything yet.

Those chips are $3 a piece, max. Plus a programmer is less than $15. I wish we could find out where to get the firmware files from...

Which chips? Also your service manual database doesn't have my TV.

The EEPROM / serial flash IC that was linked to previously.

That is my signature included in all my posts. I got a load of Vizio SMs from a link on their website, but they've since patched it up. If I don't have yours sorry. I'm working on adding a lot more.

                              Thanks

You didn't read my measurement correctly, I only had +5 volts on the fuse and 3.3 volts on U4 regulator. all other regulators became active when the TV power is on.

I will reconfirm my measurements later

I didn't test the 8 legged IC next to the north chip, because I cant get the tv on. Stuck in what appears to be stand by. See Attached!
