Re: Vizio VO47L FHDTV10A No display

You might try to check the resistance to ground on the fuse (the side that shows low to no voltage). Do this with Power OFF! Low resistance indicates a short or partial short to ground. Might save a fuse or two.

      Sure that's the next move.
The caps I replaced already. Let's see what happens after putting a new fuse.

Alright guys I'm looking for a replacement smt fuse. Here are the specs, 10A/60V DC.
I narrowed down a search here as per the size but the exact ratings are not available, between what parameters can I choose the right one?

Hi go for the 10A/63V fuse if the physical size is ok - it is sometimes easier to piggyback the old one than risk messing up the pads.

I've even gone to Radio Shack and bought a regular size fuse holder and soldered it in.

A 10A automotive fuse can also be a quick fix.

Yeah guys I'll have to try a local solution at least for testing purposes. More so since digikey is out of stock.

Cheaper. 24V rated for a 24V inverter, should be fine.

Hey I appreciate the effort guys. Now both those are way smaller. This fuse is about 6-7mm in length. The search criteria I posted before had a list of a bunch around the same dimension.
Maybe I should order a smaller one and compensate with solder to reach the pads?

Big thanks for your ideas, here is the result

Dont mind how messy the board looks. It was nicely cleaned afterwards.

But is that a 30A fuse? Kinda bypassing the point of a fuse with one of those...

That's right Tom66, I picked it up by accident since they had it in the wrong bin at Radioshack. So I though I'd try it and it worked.
I'll replace it with the right one when I can stop by tomorrow or something.

Well with a 30A fuse, you'll know which component downstream maybe be shorted. Just look for the giant hole where that faulty component formerly dwelled.

Can I go that high on the voltage then? The rating for the original fuse was 10A/60VDC.

The voltage indicates the maximum voltage the fuse can safely interrupt. It's a value you make equal to or bigger than the original.
