Vizio P50HDM wasn't working now is. PSU? Possible purchase

This one is for sale locally no sound, no picture, just an amber Vizio light. I think the owner wants too much for it, $100, but after I contacted them they texted back and said that they plugged it back in and it was working. It sounds to me like it could be a PSU issue. What are the chances that it could be something else? I guess there's always the chance that the owner is playing some kind of game.

It's more likely the main board, Vizio power boards tend to be fairly well built

If it's a Samsung plasma panel (possibly) it could be cold solder joints, older Samsung plasmas were well known for cold solder joints on the main power transistors.

I'd go for $60, maybe meet them at $75.

Sorry to bring this back up. The owner decided to keep it since it was working again. This morning the ad popped back up for sale. He now has two of the exact same model with the exact same issue. No power, no sound. Stuck in standby. He wants $100 each plus another $25 each for the stands.

He says both sets were manufactured in '05. Online, a 50" 720p plasma can be had for $500. I don't know what it would take to get these sets working, but I would think that they're lifespans have pretty much ran their course. Am I wrong to think $150 would be about the best I could expect to get for each of them working? They're about an hour and a half away from me so we're looking at about $25 of gas too. If the owner would take $125 for the pair with their stands, do you think there's any good money to be made here?

You still thinking $60 to $75 each?

I wouldn't go for both though.
Also, I am suspicious. Who really has two 50" plasma TVs??

I wondered about that too. He said he had the one and liked it so much he talked his naeighbor into buying the same one, the neighbor later moved and sold it to him. I'm sceptical.

I'd pass to be honest. Much more out there surely.

One of my friends, who is a bachelor, has two 60 inch plasma TVs.
