Yes, what else can I say.

The "upside" for me is that I spend way less time when my gut tells me that a poster tells me that he/she can't/won't follow instructions or even do the slighest homework (not talking about anyone in this thread).

My days of playing 20 time consuming questions to painfully extract a clear focused picture or get a post with paragraphs, punctuation and periods are over.

BTW, budm seems to think it is just the posters on badcaps, but I have been on a few other forums and it is not exclusive to badcaps.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Sorry to resurrect but I just had a lighting strike and have the EXACT same issues here with the 46". I so love this TV but is it even worth it at this point to try and fix?

Remember the great words of Bob the builder: Can we fix it? (yes we can)

That being said, I no longer have this TV, so any advice I have would be speculation, but have you popped her open yet? If a lightning strike fried some components, I'd think the damaged parts would be obvious.

Side note: I don't think I ever formally thanked the other regular posters (you know who you are) for all the help they gave me with the Vizio. The TV is still going strong. While I planned on attempting a component level replacement (since we had tracked down the issue to that single smd cap), once the issue was found, a lot of the fight went out of me. I went on ebay and bought a replacement board for $50. Then I saw they were shipping from china town, cancelled the order, got in touch with the sellers, and rode my bike over to some cluttered electronics store where I picked up the board in person. I popped it into the TV, and it has been working great ever since.

Panasonic TH-65FX800A backlight LED's working but picture is very dark
          by Bazfletch3
          Hi all

While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).

I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.

From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however...

          Finlux LED backlight not working
          by stoian_93
          Hello guys!
My Finlux TV backlight stopped working. I disassembled the TV, saw I don't have the tools to replace the backlight and assembled it again without replacing anything. So then the backlight started working again.
A day after it is also not working.
I decided now to remove the back cover and get the output voltage to the backlight. I placed the TV facedown and connected to the mains, so - nothing. I disconected, removed the cover and connected again to the mains and then the backlight lighted again. So strange.
Output voltage when light is 66V.

Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U - Replaced Backlight LEDs but now no image/display or garbled
          by signal.quest
I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...

UN65TU700DF picture and sound but no backlight. BL tests ok but repl. PSU didnt fix!
          by triplefour
this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Panasonic DMR-EZ48V DVD/VHS combo - DVD recorder part not working
          by Ady2017
I have recently inherited a Panasonic DMR-EZ48V DVD/VHS combo after my dad died. I tried to record a DVD with it and it worked for about 5 mins before it suddenly stopped. Since then it just keeps making a noise like it is trying to read a disk but then gives a 'no read' error message. I have tried numerous DVD's and it is definitely the recorder that is the problem. I did find a youtube video showing that capacitors on the power board were a common problem on these and so I went ahead and replaced the capacitors but it is still doing the same thing. I now think that it could be the laser that...
