I have a 42" Phillips that is constantly blinking on then off. The green power button stays in though. I've removed the back and everything on the board looks to be normal.

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
The first step is to share us some pictures of the internals of the unit.
The second step is to tell us how many times the light blinks. This indicates a specific fault. The light will blink N times, then pause, then blink N times, and it will repeat this indefinitely. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
You have at least three bad capacitors on the power supply.
This is a very common fault with this power supply.
The ones which have a bulge in the vent are definitely bad, but the other lone one at the top of the image should also be replaced.
What is written on each of these capacitors?
***WHATEVER YOU DO, do NOT use RadioShack or Fry's capacitors. They are not suitable for power supplies.***Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
All three are CapXon 1500uF35V and the one on the left is 2200uF16VComment

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
That part is fine.
If you want to confirm that it is those capacitors you may heat them with a hairdryer. Often, this will give them a little extra life. Demonstration with a Samsung I repaired:

CapXon rears its head again -- I have replaced more CapXon than any other capacitor.

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
Ok I've replaced the bad capacitors and the tv will now come on but it is all black and white. Have I messed something up or did I forget something?
Thank you for your help so far.Comment

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
Yes I have done this with no result. The picture is slightly checkerboard. It's only noticeable when you get close.Comment

Could I have messed up something on the power board to cause this?Comment

Re: Phillips 42PFL5432D/37 problems
The checkerboard patterning indicates that colour is not being demodulated from composite video correctly.
Check HDMI, component, other modes. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by HondamanRecently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.
(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)
I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...-

by clabrNeed help to solve some problems with this laptop.
After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)
Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)
Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them... - Loading...
