Zenith P42W46X - Flashing Dim Picture

This tv originally had the above stated symptoms and a little noise in the screen. The "No Signal" Text box would move around dimly lit but as if it was trying to go back to its original brightness.
The X-SUS had a blown fuse (C5: 250v 47uF). I had replaced that but no change to symptoms; the IPM was making a loud hum.

I ordered a new (well used) X-SUS and the noise and hum stopped but the image was still dim and flashing. If you were to leave it on for about 5 minutes the picture would actually go back to normal but if you pulled up the menu it went back and you had to wait for it to get back to normal. Small OSD like volume seem to not make it revert. The static on cable seem to be normal too (not dim).

So big question is, faulty X-SUS (again) or external factor?

Voltages are in spec and there are no cold solder joints that I could find.

    X-SUS: 6871QZH033A
    Panel: PDP42V6(0001)

When you bring up the menu do the voltages drop out?
It sure sounds like a faulty IPM/X-sus. (BTW, X-sus is a combination of LG and Samsung terminology... LG uses Z-sustain, Samsung uses X-main.)

Heh, ya I do that sometimes :P

But on the bottom connecter there is a 15v rail that is at 12 when the image is OK but drops to 9 when I hit the menu.

There is a blue pot above that connector but I think that is for the ramp up - don't know

Careful with running with low 15V... has been known to cook the IPMs.
The 15V is supplied by Ysus using a separate power supply, check this; could have a bad cap.

Didn't know that - suppose that was the original fault then.

I'll take it home tonight and check the caps on the board - nothing obvious right now.

The low voltage causes the IPM to be less efficient in turning on the transistors. Which can kill the IPM. So don't run it for too long with the low +15V; I'd say 30 seconds at most.

There was a 47uF cap with 2.6 ohms of ESR but that wasn't directly tied to the 15v line.

There are some surface mount aluminum caps I will check tomorrow morning.

Time was a problem, so I had to order the Y-sustain. Did fix the 15v rail but as most LGs, plagued with the green sparklies. Suppose firmware would need upgrading due to the new (different) sustain boards that were put in.

LG55UB850V no picture or audio, just flashing LED's help please?
                  by IAmOrion
Hi members, I came across this forum when searching a fault on my LG 55UB850V TV.
Rather than hi-jack another members post/thread I thought I should start my own even though it's an almost identical issue.

The thread I refer to can be found here:
                  https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-s-help-please

My boards are the same, and my issue it the same. I have NO Picture and NO Sound. Nothing. When first turning on the TV at the...

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
                  by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                  by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                  Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                  First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                  by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                  Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Vizio P502ui-B1E, delayed video, white flash, flashing picture UGH!!!
                  by DXseekerMO
About a week and a half ago this TV was traded in to me with the complaint: upon turning it on one morning a white blob slowly spread across the screen. Before I got it the TV had been sitting about 3 weeks. I also found the RF IN connector was missing. I turned it on for evaluation and got the splash screen/menus.

I installed a 75ohm RF connector, repaired several bad grounds on the power board and chassis, checked all boards for loose screws and cleaned the entire inside of the TV. After all appeared well, the TV was tested for 40 hours and was subsequently put up for sale. ...
