            when testing resitors am i suposed to use the 200 setting or the 2000 setting? and does anyone know what readout i should get it just flash's for sec then goes blank.

              k i think its the 2000 setting i seem to be geting a reading above 500 how do i know if ones bad?

                Check your fuses first. Use the continuity setting on the meter

                  allready checked the fuse. seemed to be good.

                    At this point, I would just use the continuity setting and check the diodes and capacitors for shorts. Check the diodes in both directions

                      wait i think what i was testing were the 4 diodes for the rectifier. what setting do i use to check the caps

                        You really cant test caps in circuit. But you can check real quick to see if they are shorted

                          Did you test the diodes using the diode setting? You need to check for opens as well as shorts

                            whats the diode setting? this multimeter has alot of settings sorryits the first time ive used one.

                            if you were refering to the setting with the arrow symbol that was what i was useing.

                                The diode setting is at 6 oclock on your meter. It has the arrow symbol with the line on it.

                                      I don't see a continuity setting on your meter, so just check resistance across the pins of the capacitors. They should all read very high or out of range
