Hello all i being searching every where to find info and this seems to be the place. Looking for a little help. I have recently aquired a Acer T.V. for free so i'm not out anything. It will, sometimes come out of standby and sometimes not. I have checked the power supply and the voltages seem to be in range and the backlight always turns on it just dosen't display anything. When it freezes the only way to reset is to use the switch on the back. I was wondering if there is any thing that i should be checking on the main board. I forgot to mention i check all caps in the power supply and seem to be in range with a meter out of circuit(rubycons). Look forward to your knowledgeful response.

The PSU uses Rubycons? Wow.
Can you try re-seating the LVDS cable? This cable runs from the main board to the t-con board at the top of the screen. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I have tried your suggestion but did not win. If you cycle it a couple of times the unit fires up and dosen't miss a beat. You can turn it off and on as much as you want and it always starts. It is once it sits for a while that it won't start up. It is so much easier to find things when there broke.

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
Problem seems to keep changing- wont come out of standby.
Comes out of standby but backlight only - no picture
Once its been on its fine.
First idea might be after it been off for a while try preheating the boards with a hairdryer before you switch on and see if that improves the switching on.
What is the sound doing when it has no picture and does the osd workPlease upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
I guess i should clarify it always comes out of standyby and the backlight always turns on it just dosent cycle thru the input modes. On a normal startup it displays the acer symbol than cycles thru the inputs. On what i call a cold startup it lights the back light but dosen't proceed any farther you might get some flickering colors on the screen. As per your recommendations when it cold starts the sound works it just won't display anything, and by heating the board it just eliminates how many times you have to cycle it before it will turn on it will not bring it back to life. Sorry i'm terrible or kinda stupid at short hand what is osd ?

OSD is things like the menus -- volume control etc.
Try localising your heating around the larger processors on the board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Sounds like a T-Con problem or a connection to the T-Con board or panel. Did you try reseating the ribbon cable going to the panel already?Last edited by kevinm34232; 11-22-2012, 09:55 PM.

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
Did you try to change the two 100uf/16v "(in)famous" capacitors from the processor board?
Look at the picture.
P.S. I'm fighting with mine (it stays always in stand-by, orange LED on), i replaced and checked all parts according to forum tips. I can bring it up only with one resistor of 2K2 between 5V (std-by) and the power supply's stand-by controll pin.If i do that, LED come green, and TV works normal (with the resistor still connected) until i try to shut it down by remote or button panel.
Any ideea for me? I'l try to change the memory IC (24C32) to see what happen (first time empty and after with a dump from internet).
Thank you.Last edited by therealovy77; 11-28-2012, 04:17 AM.

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
I came with news. I buyed a new control board (or that's i was told) from ebay and i get to another weird thing: when i power the TV from the power supply's switch for the first time it stays in the same status like before (orange led on, and the rest of the TV in stand-by, and with some audible whistle from the power supply like an lower frequency than normal). But, if i turn off and on again the power supply's switch, the TV work normally (no whistle from power supply and the TV can be turned on/off fine from remote) until i cut the power for longer time.
It is an improvement from previous state, but it is still frustrating that it isn't working good.
What do you think? It looks to me like an bad power-on-reset or something. Can i suspect the controll board again, or the power supply (i checked the voltages, changed the electrolythic capacitors, and resoldered in some parts on the board, and everything seems fine)?
Thank you.Last edited by therealovy77; 02-08-2013, 02:40 AM.

What capacitors did you use as replacements? Brand & series? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
I didn't changed yet the Rubycon's on the main supply. I changed only the capacitors on 5V output stand-by line and the 400V main capacitor with some standard Nichicon capacitors. I cannot tell for sure because i reassembled the TV, but, if it is important, i can disassemble it again and check them.

No need to change the Rubycons, they are one of the best caps out there, and would be unlikely to fail. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Acer At3201w will power up sometimes
Hi!
For me this would be a problem with the TV, the images are not very nice.
The picture settings, where you can find a warm picture settings, and to cancers, only green in the picture.
What can be a problem for such operations?
Thank you very much for your help!
