    Magnavox 42MF521D/37 - Dead

I picked up this TV with the power supply board missing. The owner originally had someone come look at TV and replace some caps, that didn't fix it and apparently he didn't return the PS board back. So anyways I purchased a new PS board. TV still does not come on. Seems dead but have correct voltages off of PS board (16v and 24v going to main board and inverter boards). However, there is no standby light and no response when hitting power button. Also these voltages are immediately present when unit is plugged in.

Not sure where to go from here..

Missing 12VS here on main board, have the 16V on VCC pin but 0v OUT.

Check INH pin should be logic HIGH (>1V)

        Re: Magnavox 42MF521D/37 - Dead

It's 0v, but Im not sure now if it's because I have the inverter boards and T-Con board unplugged because of this chassis design...

Nope it's not that, carefully plugged everything else in.. There is another chip close to 7003 labeled 7004. That has 24v on VCC abd 5v on OUT pin.

Should still be OK without those so the chip is at fault it would appear as INH should be high to turn off the converter.

Check 6001 for shorts and check 5001 appears low resistance (should appear like a dead short.)

Arghh I think I was looking at wrong page, was trying to find where the 16v or 24v goes down to 12v, it's missing at the fuse.

The fuse is blown or OK?

5001 is good. D6001 seems weird, it was reading .012 in both directions, and lifted one side and it reads .0L and .167. Same with D6002.

Fuse is good, but I don't have the 12v on either side of it.

You need to trace where the 12V comes from but I suspect it comes from that very DC-DC you were originally suspecting... note the DC-DC is a SOURCE not a SINK.

That page is labeled VIDEO DAC. Not sure if that is the source or just another circuit. What is PWR-SAVING?

PWR-SAVING will be for standby mode but we have determined that since INH is low (previously my mistake; datasheet says LOW should turn on output) the chip should be working as long as it has 16V in. However as it is not generating the 12V something else is wrong other than the diode or inductor so I suspect the IC itself is failed.

Hmm OK. Just added a power block diagram to post above, does that help you at all?

It looks like 12VS may be coming from the 16v?

Yes, the IC will be converting the 16V down to 12V, you need to find out why that isn't working -- the IC is dead or there is a short circuit on the 12V.

Yea but the one we were looking at (7003) had 24v input so I was thinking it wasn't the one.. I just haven't seen anything else in the SM where the 16v goes to 12v. I took readings from the caps in the area does that tell you anything?

Either you have the wrong SM or there's been a design change. Am I wrong in saying you have no 12VS? Whatever the input voltage, 7003 ain't working. It is an ex-parrot.

For some reason I thought I was getting 24v at VCC but its 17v, my bad. I just ordered a new regulator for that 7003 will let you know, thanks for the help!

So that's where the problem is, the 7003 is probably fine but something is wrong on the rest of the main board. Finding the exact failure will be tricky.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi everyone,

I have a NM-A321 board that is dead, with no power at all.

When I received the laptop, the +5VPMIC line was shorted. Removing the PU3 (ISL95905) solved the short, so I ordered and replaced the ISL.

With the new ISL, the short is gone, but still no voltages at all. I measured the following rails:

Additionally, the ISL95906 (PU3) is not getting any voltage on the VIN rail.

The only place on the board where I find any voltage is on the first MOSFETs, specifically:...

Nikon D5 – dead, power board issue ?

Hello, the DSLR has heavyly fallen. It is dead : no sign of life and display nothing.

When it worked, it always displayed a card present state on LCD display, even when the battery is empty it display a empty battery symbol.
I found a dead fuse, I replaced it and a mosfet burnt, I changed it and another fuse burned. Nothing burned after. And I can't find any short circuit anywhere, it's weird.

Now, I try to understand how it works.

There is two boards (the little one on pictures has no component) : the first is a « power board » : managing...

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
                                          by Asraf Atb
                                          Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...
