    Panasonic TH-50PX60U 7 blinks

Hello, I have the above plasma TV.

    Blinks 7 times.
The first time you power it on after it has been off a long time it appears to power up. Stays on for 10 seconds. Sustain boards LED's come on. Fans run. Then it turns off.

After that even if unplugging it and plugging it back in then it happens much faster. 2 seconds.

I can't find any damaged parts. No blown parts on Sustain etc. I have isolated the two driver boards and still have the 7 blinks.. I have tried the freeze spray, physical stress I just can't see to find the bad part. No bad caps of any kind that I can see. I don't want to just order a power supply board and pray.

Has anyone seen this? Have advice?

    Re: Panasonic TH-50PX60U 7 blinks

Note -- If you isolated the drive boards you MUST jumper SC50 to disable the 7 blinks chassis detection problem. Then you can determine if it is SC or driver problem.

I am not finding a SC50 on the SC board. Will go up and look again.

Ah, it may be an older SC, for which there is another technique.

It appears that to isolate the SC board on this model "I am not totally sure that manual is close but not exact" you just unplug the sucker.

I pulled the SC board and checked power transisters, FETs and Diodes. Everything good. No shorts. Board not shorted to ground. The SC board appears good at first glance. I am stabbing in the dark on this thing.

Thanks t.j. I am reading it now..

                  I did try the following..

It appears that to isolate the SC board on this model "I am not totally sure that manual is close but not exact" you just unplug the sucker.

Pulled and checked the following boards and checked for shorted components

                  P
                  SS
                  SC
                  SU & SD

                  I have found NOTHING! Gasp......

Additional note.. I did pull the data lines to the SC board and the error code went away and the unit would stay on. Also when watching the unit the screen starts to come up "I can see the black screen begin to light up in the dark.. And the instant that happens it shuts down. The 10 seconds the first time power on generates the same issue. So I am failrly certin that has nothing to do with anything.

That manual is awsome! It shows everything!!!!! It's a matter of time now before this thing is getting fixed! I sure wish it was something that people have encountered before. It's a real stinker.. I can't wait to see exactly what it is.

SOS signals. I am measuring the SOS6 and SOS7 signals from the SC board. They both jump to around 2.5v just before shutdown. I see no difference between them. I was reading a pin guide and it would appear that they are supposed to be at 0.

Does anyone know if I am chasing a rabbit hole here?

try and heat (used hairdryer) the caps on the sc board near the bottom end below the heatsinks they would be between the heatsinks if the heatsinks were long enough . i did this on a 7 blink setand found problem then verifed with an esr meter. after 6 yrs a cap is entitled to be a little bad. these sets go back around 6 yrs.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread, but I also have an issue with my TH-50PX60U. It is completely dead. No lights, no blinks, just kaput. I found a troubleshooting manual that Tom66 had posted, and it led me to either a bad P board or bad DG board. Here is the quandry, which board is it? AC relays did not click when power cord was put in, so went to step 2, which was to test if either pin 1 of PA40 or pin 1 of HC22 had 5V. PA40 had 0V, but HC22 had 5V. The problem is, HC22 had nothing plugged into it.

According to the chart, if I answer the "or" proposition above with a "yes" since one of the two had 5V, it's the DG board. If the answer is "no", it's the P board. My question is, does it matter that HC22 connects to nothing at all? Simply because it has 5V and PA40 has nothing, should I assume it's a DG board?

I must have been looking at an older guide. According to your thumbnail, my issue is clearly a bad P board, as there are 0v at pin 1 of PA40.

I'm apparently so new to the forum that I cannot yet start a new thread. I will be more than happy to do so once I'm allowed.

I haven't yet looked at the guides contained in your second post, but I will, just to be absolutely certain my diagnosis is correct.

Thank you for the quick and on point advice!

Unfortunately, the repair courses you provided have a file extension I can't open. Tried to unzip them, but no luck. Unless you believe I'm wrong in my diagnosis of a bad P board, I'm going to go ahead and order a replacement.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

                                          Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
                                          by jm1234
                                          Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                                          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                          Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...

                                          Panasonic TC-P50U50 Powers Off - 8 blinks
                                          by nobbnobb1
                                          Hello,

I have a Panasonic TC-P50U50 plasma TV which powers on briefly, then powers off and flashes the power light with 8 blinks. This TV is infamous for this, of which the suggestion that the SS board has failed due to loose grounding screws and requires a replacement of the following components on the SS board:

                                          2x DG302 (Q16051)
                                          2x RF2001 (D16041)
                                          2x 5.6 ohm SMD resistor
                                          1x BD8694 IC

I have already gone ahead and replaced these components, as well as cleaning off the ground connections on the SS board as well as the associated...
