    Sanyo DP42647 back light problem

This is my first post so it may be sketchy. The fore mentioned Sanyo has sound and video. When I first turn the set on it has a picture for just a second then goes dark. I've searched the forum over and can't find a similar symptom. Everything seems to be fine but there is just no back light. Thanks in advance for your help. I've been in electronic repair in one form or another since 1972 but just started back in television repair the middle of August. This forum is a godsend thanks for providing it.

Re: Sanyo DP42647 back light problem

While originally written for lcd monitors, some of it applies to LCD TVs.

2 seconds to black can be

    a) bad caps
    b) bad ccfls
    c) bad ccfl wiring (especially the return wiring)
    d) bad secondary windings on the inverter transformer

More details starting with post #19 at
