By the way, I see you are working on two TV's.
actually working on three tv's it has one sting on each side and 2 strings on bottom...none on top.....each string has its own connector. I will see what i can do for pictures, thanks for helping me out.

okay after i took the panel apart the short to chassis seems to disappear and it will power all led again i am certain each string is independent of each other, there are 4 total , one on each side and 2 on bottom, i think its grounding out thru either the coating on wire somewhere, what can i use to wrap them wires and not take too much space since it is very tight tolerances. Thanks in advance...

They are separate strings. Yes the wires for the assembly are very fine and it may got cought on a sharp corner somewhere and the insulation got damaged. The problem may come back if you cannot locate the short that went away. At least we are getting some where.

can't see any sharp corners, the wire pass threw has a rubber boot, so only thing i can think of is to use packing tape under the wires where it makes contact with the sheet metal since there is zero insulation under those wires. what is your thought? i can't see any other area thus far....BTW thanks for working with me

May be put the meter in the beeper mode and move the wire or flex the screen a little to see if you can make the meter beep.

ok spotted the shorts, there were 2 shorts one red wire and one black wire and its located right were it goes into led strings and the aluminum bars that hold those leds in place has fairly a sharp edge and low behold i found bare copper in the wires, i will wrap them up and probably use a file on those sharp edges.

Good, I am glad you located the shorts that way you do not have to take it apart again, you may as well look at the other 3 to see if the same thing can happen on the other 3set of wires, just for prevention. I am sure there are other TV with this sample with the same problem. You can use KAPTON tape.
                    Can I see the pictures?
By the way, I have never heard of this TV brand before, may be they do not sell them in California.

The screen isn't a Samsung or something? Sounds pretty poor. I have noticed a lot of price slashing in the LED TV market, so expect to see a lot more failures soon.

there is no good brand name on this set anywhere as labels are concerned. Black Friday special here...got it back together now testing, so far so good...not celebrating yet till it can do 24hrs....

already thought of that, its a nightmare to take apart and put back together, so i did preventative measures and insulated under those wire the whole way to the though hole...

I know this is an old thread but I am having a similar problem. I recently discovered a Seiki LE-55GB2 Television that does the exact same thing. Picture and sound are great, however the TV is not reliable. It will shut down without notice at any given minute, sometimes working hours before shutting down. Blue LED on front stays on the whole time. You have to power the set down, let it rest a few minutes before it will power back up. Other times it will shut down every 10 minutes. Its a great looking set and I really want to keep it going if I can as I found it on the curb worst case I am keeping it for a garage TV or something. Its just too great of a picture to just give up on.

I popped it open and checked for any shorts or signs of bulged caps, no luck. However the power board has some scorch marks near JP25 Center transformer right where the wording is near the prongs. http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...402a-top_5.jpg
I am assuming there is a short somewhere. I thought of ordering a new powerboard but they are scarce and your gonna pay for it. Before I make the commitment I want to ensure its' the part I should be focused on rather than just throwing money at it and hoping it works. I have read a lot of tips on here and I was wondering if someone has had more experience with this problem in the past?

                                      Hi all,
Got this local made DC power supply (12/14V) given free as the transformer has melted. There is no marking or indication to identify what type or rating of transformer used.
Fyi,. I had a busted autogate mainboard with transformer with marking 13-0-13 . Is this the 13v dc type transformer?
                                      My questions are
                                      1. How do i test to see if the transformer is in good working condition?
                                      2. Can this transformer (marking 13-0-13) be used to replace the melted transformer on the DC power supply?
Hope you guys understand what i was asking. My intention is...

                                      Hello All,

i would like to post an interesting topic regarding 3-phase stepdown transformer which we suspect to cause an overcurrent (138A) which resulted to power tripped off of the HV power supply (80KV output).

                                      Problem statement: Power tripped Off

Initial Problem: Found 2 IGBT and 2 rectifier diodes shorted (burnt).
