Each of the flexes has an IC chip attached to it bonded in the flex. If the chip goes wrong, you get a bar on the screen. Usually not all the chips go wrong at once so it can point to a more common fault - such as a processing board fault (HDMI board in this instance.) Thing is, the power supply in these things are so unstable (self-oscillating, without any form of intelligent IC to control it), it's possible they passed a surge or similar through to all the drivers and toasted them simultaneously. Apparently someone had a similar problem with an LG plasma (which also uses chip on flex... half of his screen got fried due to a common fault - I wouldn't be surprised if all could be damaged at once.) I'm not sure where to go from here, there are no fuses on the board to test, all the voltages appear to be there, it's just not working.

the fact that I play with the cables and putting them in or at right now as a last minute thing to do wouldn't make any difference....I see screen get dark, boxes appear, lines, etc... LOL..I know I'm fetching but I know I could possibly use this thing for parts..caps, etc...Comment

Thing is the only fault with that would be very difficult to trace without an oscilloscope. You could replace the board but I'd expect it's fairly pricey.
But you'll soon be checking Craigslist or similar sites for faulty TVs... once you get bitten there's no going back! Try and pick up a 32" Samsung of the R87 series - they have common issues with bad caps and are generally nice easy fixes.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
Another TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.
The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.
Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?... -

I have a Dell G15 ryzen edition (ryzen 5) that turns on but won't post, black screen, keyboard lights on, caps lock led on, fans turns and the battery indicating light is showing 2amber and 1 white according to dell website it's a cpu failure, but i tried few basic things before i open it up i tested the screen by pressing the d button before powering it up but it didn't show anything i tried the ctrl+esc for bios recovery but still black screen i tried refreshing the screen, i plugged it on an external monitor but same thing. I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol! 
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
