    Magnavox 42mf531d Shadows on screen

My friend bought two of the same model used tv's not working.
    Manufactured september 06
Both tv's had vented caps on the PSU,he only replaced 4 caps on each tv,and that made the tv's work.
But both tv's have these shadows or blochyness on the screens, pic is of the better of the two.
Both tv's seem to be working fine except the shadows,I have been watching this tv now for about 3 weeks and its on about 5 hrs every night.
Its noticable watching tv but not really too bad, its better or worse depending on what color is on the screen,I hooked it up to a laptop to get just one color for the pic,it really stands out with like gray or blue backgrounds, but not as bad with white or black.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
I open it back up to look at the caps on the main board, since we didnt look the first time we worked on it,there is only 3 electrolytics that i can see on it.
This thing looks like it would be a pain to trouble shoot because of how its designed on the back! The mainboard and psu are in one enclosure and nothing is accessible unless you disconnect everthing and pull the enclosure.
Could this be a bad panel,or T-con board?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,Lonny

What's the other TV's shadow look like?

I would go down to the CCFL tubes behind the LCD and see if there is not anything hanging. Inspect the LCD (very carefully) and diffusers (white sheets).

I dont have a picture of the other set right now,but will see if my friend will send me one.

The other tv is worse looking than this one,but its not the same pattern.

I have never had one apart down to the lamps yet,but would like to see what inside these things.

Any tips so i dont damage anything?

Thanks,i'll try and get a picture of the other tv as soon as i can.

Well that makes sense lol.....Ive actually never seen that on a tv though I see that happen to like TI-83 and 84s all the time. If it got bumped, then it got damaged enough to do that but not crack.

Well now you can see what's inside them without worry

To me it looks more like mura, due to poor design of the panel it has been damaged due to heat. It too is unrepairable. Very, very common on CMO and Chungwha panels.

My first fear was we damaged the screens by how we were handling the tv's and how we layed them down to work on them, but we where very careful.

Do you think the heat damage comes from the lamps or from the psu or mainboard? They sure added a lot of extra heat sinks and compound on the top of mainboard and to the top of the psu.

It looks to me that the psu is directly behind the worst part of the shadow.

Do you think the heat damage occurred when the caps failed on the PSU?

Just wondering if the damage was there before the caps let go or not.

              Thanks

I believe (though I'm not certain) it's due to the internal layers of the LCD de-laminating, and the heat from the bulbs is the likely #1 cause, next to heat from other boards. I doubt bad caps caused it.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                  by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                  by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                  by smic717394
                  Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                  Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                  by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
                  by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...
