Vizio E321VL - turn logo off?

I've got two E321VL's. Been reading all the horror stories about them dying an early death due to bad eprom. Mine are fine... so far. So I'm holding my breath and considering purchasing a 5 year extended warranty.

My only complaint with the E321VL has to do with the logo which is always "on" whether the HDTV is on or off. Since I have one of these in my bedroom, it's very bothersome to have the darn logo on all the time. Other than covering it with electrical tape, or opening the set and unplugging the wire harness to the light, I was wondering if anyone knew whether there was a method to deactivate the light other than what I've already mentioned.

Thanks in advance for any info on this. I'll probably try calling Vizio tech support to find out as well although many times they are clueless.

I think the only way to stop the light (other than covering it up) is to unplug the LED on the front. Lay the tv on its face on soft surface. Watch around the RCA inputs there are 2 or 3 small screws that need to be removed. When you open the back at the bottom in the center you will see two wires running under the screen toward the front bezel. That is the led light wire. Be careful because there are several wires running from the speakers and Remote control IR board. Those are taped down and can be pulled from their socket.
Have you ever stopped to think and then forget to start thinking again?

As a very wise man once said on this forum: "Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most."

How about using a black marker, maybe it will show like smoked out tailights?

I did call Vizio and as I surmised the person I talked to wasn's quite sure but said that some models have the ability to turn the logo off while others do not. I have the others. So I guess I'll be voiding my warranty and opening it up to remove the leads. Thanks for the input.

Vizio M65-C1 | Logo appears for 10 seconds then off
          by Bob1394
I have used the search, and am stumped.

My Vizio M65-C1, Vizio logo appears for about 10 seconds then goes off.Power LED blinks 15 times then the TV powers down.

I have read through many threads on the M65-C1 including the following threads. I feel like I must be looking right past the solution to my problem:

Vizio E701i-A3 Vizio logo flashing then turns off
          by Super360
Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

VIZIO M65-C1 Does Not Turn On
          by Mulp
          Hi All,

I am having an issue with my Vizio M65-C1 where it does not turn on. When I plug it in the stand by light on bottom left of screen turns on (white) then fades away. If I press the power button it turn back on and then fades until it is super dim.

When I remove cover, there are no illuminated leds on the main board, I've seen others with a red/blue led that turns on.

I've done some research and what is interesting is my voltages all seem slightly different from other people. For example +5/3.5v is 3.48V when on which is different from others on here....

Vizio E701i-A3 stuck at logo, need service manual
          by paulxxxx
The TV stuck at logo and cannot be turned off unless the cord is unplugged.
I was given two main boards and exactly the the same thing happens to both of them.
I have checked all voltages on the connector on the power board that goes into the main board and they all look OK.
There are no signs of damage on any of the 3 boards.

Would someone help me with a pointer to the manual? It's supposedly to be the same as E601i-A3.

          Thanks!
