Blu-Ray player sluggish on dual-layer titles, but not on single-layer

On a Blu-Ray player, I find that dual-layer Blu-Ray titles are a bit sluggish, even though the video plays back flawlessly, but single-layer titles are fairly quick.
This is for a Chinese-made Blu-Ray player (budget brand sold by a major retailer) from around 2010, but sluggishness (even a brief pause between layer transition)on dual-layer Blu-Ray titles can be an issue that mainly affects early-generation players.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Maybe the video processor clock is too slow?

It might also have to do with how the video processing circuits are laid out.
