Well I didnt have any foam so I cut pieces out of a Styrofoam block and used double sided tape. Then because the Styrofoam didnt have much give, I made custom clamps to squeeze the metal frame against the styrofoam. Wahlaa the TV works like new

I had a double image problem with my Samsung and was able to fix it for $0.00 all by myself. Check out this video on YouTube.

It looks like it has contacts problem between the connectors and the ribbon cable, did you also try cleaning the contacts?

Doing that fix in the video, when the panel is HOT/On could damage the T-con no? I learned my lesson about that with a Plasma so I have always reseated/cleaned any ribbon cables with the panel off.

I am surprised too that the T-CON or the TFT IC did not get damaged when doing live inserting of the ribbon cable, the conductor pitches are so fine and you can easily cross the conductors if you do not insert the cable in straight.
