    Samsung PS-42Q96HD

    HI

I am new to this site so I hope I'm posting in the right section.
My tv would not turn on it was completely dead. So I opened up the back and noticed 2 bulging capacitors on the psu which I changed.

Now I get sound but no picture. There is voltage going through the x and y boards.

On the logic board there is 2 green leds on.

If somebody else has had the same problem any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

There are likely other bad capacitors that are not bulged. Do you have access to an esr meter? These are extremely useful to detect bad caps.

Also - need photos on the power supply - front and back and ensure they're posted as attachments

Searching the internet, the PSU for this is familiar to me. Ours had two bad caps and also, the mosfets on a heatsink had overheated and needed to be replaced. The PSU I am referring to looks like this, does yours look like that?

        Hi

psmedley - I have soldered all the caps out and tested them on my meter which has a built in uf tester and they all come within the 10% range.

ben7 my psu model number is DYP-42W2PLU Rev 1.o, code BN44-00194A. I cant post any pictures probs with my phone. But I think you maybe right one of the three legged mosfet on the heatsink is reading both ways?

It depends on which pins you are measuring. Do you mean that you are getting a reading both ways on a certain pin combo? (like, measuring from gate to source) If so, it sounds like it could be bad. Although, the other circuitry on the board could be fooling you.

Yep, that looks exactly like the one that I fixed.

                Hi

Sorry about the late response. I have checked the mosfets and they seem to be ok. When I get a chance I will check other components- BTW how do I attach pictures or files to this message? thanks
