sorry mate, you will have to lead me a little on the "Use 1kohm resistor to pull PS high or low"

Can you get hold of a 1k ohm resistor? Maplins are a good place. Any nearby value 470 to 4.7k will do also.

          5.58k will probably do.

Disconnect main power connector and inverter power.

Connect resistor from SB pin to PS pin.

Check if 13V, 12V etc come up.

If not, disconnect and reconnect resistor from PS pin to GND pin.

Check if 13V, 12V etc come up.

If this test fails the PSU is at fault.

            Looking at this thread here
            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17044

My board don't look to cleaver around this area
Not a great pic because it was on my phone in the garage.
Can get a better pic if needed.
Can i test these two components on the board or should i just change them?

Clean the glue completely (chip it all off) and carbonisation. However, I thought this fault blew the fuse. I'm not certain though. Definitely clean if off though because it could cause a problem later.

This test failed and the resistor tested ok after so it did not pop it.

Is it worth me trying to locate the fault on the board or just get a new one?

Depends how much your time is worth. I wouldn't spend any more than a day trying to debug a board but then again I'm a student! Money's tight!

With the above test can you check if PS is at 3V or 0V with the resistor in both positions.

I dont know if i up to debuging a board with my limited skill, but as i am not at work at the moment i might waste a little time on it, after all that is where the buzz come's from and not from changing a board.
As you know the components are penny's as well.
Where,s best to get a PSU other than the bay if i was going to go down that route?

When you say "With the above test can you check if PS is at 3V or 0V with the resistor in both position".
Are you saying you should get 3v, if you do the PS is working? If 0v it's faulty?

I thought i would up date this thread.
I got a new PSU board and a remote. Fitted them and the panel come to life. As it powered up i could see the screen was smashed , gutted but, a hoe. Stripped her down and recycled the rest.
                        Thanks for all your help.
