Friends,
I am an audio technician, fixing mostly large amplifiers from QSC, Crown Audio, Samson, etc. who needs to repair a Zenith/LG plasma which we installed.
It has no brightness and apprently no audio, tho' it might if it were on a source with audio supplied. It turns on, the red LED blinks several times, the Y-sus board makes a normal sound. Va=55 VDC, Vs=205, +5 is OK, +3.3 is OK but +15 = 18.3 VDC. Power consumption is low, jumping between 50 and 90 watts. The system control is active, it will switch between various source and if left on it shuts down due to no signal after 15 minutes. If the lower Y-drive board is removed a distorted image appears lower half of screen consisting of red and blue pixels which change as it is switched thru sources.
Action taken so far: while it playing, an IC on the upper Y-drive board spontaneously smoked. Replaced both Y-drive boards and Y-sus board and got back to square one.
I think it has corrupted firmware, not a hardware problem at this point. I can't find a troubleshooting flowchart for the PDP50T3 plasma panel. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
