Good day! Just found an older LCD in the dump (Sharp LC-32D40U) and plugged it in. I get backlighting (blue screen) but see no images or sound. When I press the Menu button (or any other buttons excepting PWR), I get no response. The service manual is accessible http://elektrotanya.com/sharp_lc-32d.../download.html but I am unsure as to where to start troubleshooting. Seems like a T-con issue perhaps? I removed the T-con and visual looked it over. 3A fuse was good and no burned items. Suggestions of what to troubleshoot would be appreciated.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U - no image
1) On the t-con board, check the VCC (5V) test point just by the F1 fuse.
2) Check to see if the voltages on the main board are okay.
3) I can't tell from the pictures, but see if the are any voltage regulators on the main board and see if they are within spec.--- begin sig file ---

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U - no image
Did you try unplugging and reseatting the cables? Oddly with bad audio and video I used to always go for the main board until my last TV it was the TCON but I wouldn't even get backlights ... So you are at least getting a BLON signal I assume. Anyhow I wish I could help further but this would be the quickest fix I am aware of indeed do do power tests if reseatting cables does not aid... Wish you luck. Please note: I am not responsible for any harm caused to you anything discussed is just discussion. Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U - no image
There's a few test points on the t-con that you should check the voltage on:
VCC+5V, VDD, VGL, VGH, SDRAM_VDD, VLS, 3V, SSC_VDD, D-VDD, and S_VDD(?)
Check with respect to ground. Let me know what voltages you get.Comment

Ok, the T-con board is under the main shell, separate from the major boards and very difficult to get to while cables are connected. I measure the 32 pins along the connector CP7203 which extends into the T-con board. This 32 pin cable is serviced by the scaler board. Voltages are below. Pins that show 0.0V (GND) are skipped.

So F1 fuse on the T-CON board is OK (since the 5Vdc feeding it from the cable is OK)?Never stop learning

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U - no image
Not to sound negative, but I doubt those voltages can be of much use in terms of troubleshooting. You really need to get the voltages at those test points I mentioned in order to see if the T-con is working properly.
I'm not very familiar with the layout of the TV, but if needed, use cardboard or plastic sheets to insulate the boards from each other and run the TV that way if you can to get those measurements.Comment

Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U - no image
Kinda working on too much here and just got back to this one. This evening I plugged a DVD player into the Component 1 jacks and got audio, but still no video. This tells me that the main board is OK, correct? Just need to spend my time looking at the T-con and scaler boards?Comment

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
Hi everyone. [Sorry for the long, detailed post in advance].
I have a Sharp LC-52E77UN which randomly shuts down--could be within 15 minutes, could be 40 minutes, over 1 hour, it's unpredictable. From reading the service manual, I was able to get into service mode (where the K is displayed), and found the following error flag toggled: "04 Initial Communication Error 4 -- Error reason: To the communication setting reception," which, from contacting an eBay TV repair store, I was told is caused NOT by a bad TCON (which was my first guess), but rather the motherboard.... -
by jason123Hello all. 3 years back, with your help, I replaced the LEDs on this TV. It's been working great. Yesterday, I turned it on (garage TV), and it has blurred horiz / vert lines as you see in photos. Definitely no physical hit or damage. Top 1/6th of the screen is perfect. Could it be main / TCON board? No tabs to cut on this model. Thank you...

by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
