I'm looking to buy a TV off of eBay to repair. It has vertical banding (see link or attachments) and what not. I talked with a TV tech about it, and he said, "anything that effects the picture like that, almost 90% of the time, it's the panel, which can't be replaced."
If the banding could be fixed easily, maybe by just replacing some bulging caps and what not, then I would like to purchase it to fix. I already have a LC-46D64U with a band panel, so I can use that as a parts TV.
So, the question here is, how much of a gamble would it be to buy this TV off of eBay and expect to be able to repair it? As long as it isn't the panel going bad, I have all the pieces needed to repair it.
Thanks.
