I'm going to take a gamble on this a replace the logic board. I recall yesterday when I probed the left side ribbon pins that the waveform started but then flat lined after a second or two after power up.

            Logic Board Forced Operation

Note: This test function may not be available on all models

            • Step 1- With the Main PCB removed, short pins 1 & 5* on the 24P ribbon cable to the SMPS from the main PCB to turn the panel on. This will turn on the secondary voltages of the SMPS. Shorting the POWER ON connection to ground is the same as the power on from the power switch.

            • Step 2 - Carefully short pins 3 & 4 of the quad connector on the Logic PCB together. When the panel is powered on, the PDP will automatically “play” the internal test patterns stored on the Logic board that would normally be accessed only through the service menu. This will force the logic board into a loop where the internal test patterns will be displayed in sequence.

            • Step 3 - After the proper pins are shorted, apply power to the AC input. The TV will power up by itself and if all is well with the logic, X, Y buffers and address boards, the panel will “play” the test pattern loop. If everything looks normal the possible problem is the main board which is the only thing left not in the circuit.

*ALWAYS check the service manual for the correct PS_ON and GND connections.
            SMPS

Short the PS_ON and GND pins on the ribbon cable connector from Main Board to SMPS (24P)

Short pins 3 & 4 on the Logic Board with a 4 pin test terminal Logic PCB

Rrrrrrrrr... Tested the logic board off the tv. Hooked up 5.2v via my variable power supply. I probed the ribbon pins you said. When it was on the Tv I wasn't getting the waveform but now I have them. I'll upload the snap shots of oscilloscope reading and waveform

They're probably fets on the PSU, they could be a problem but I don't think they are the actual cause, if that makes sense.

Yes I tested the original and it had no shorts. But I was getting a short reading on one of the diodes in circuit. I I bought a replacement for $22

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
