    Re: LG 60PY3DF shuts off

What I'm trying to see here is if the CPU gets a signal from the fan will it then behave and will the TV turn on and stay on? One issue is this does not fit with your friend's description of slowing getting worse, lasting less and less time. I would expect it to just fail one day. Unless it were a cold solder joint for one of those connectors on the fan or a loose fan connector.

I bridged by using those resistor from earlier in this post and one fan worked. Would I need a regular piece of wire instead?

Yeah, the resistor will not allow enough current. 100mA typical - voltage drop 22V... from a 12V supply, that's not going to work.

Well i use 3 paperclips to connect the working connector from main board to both fans. After a few seconds both fans did spin but then the tv shut down like it always has.

I have the same problem with my LG 60PY3DF.
It's turns off after 3-5 seconds
              Was the problem fix?

Putting the tv at the end of the street. I wasn't wasting anymore time or money on this.

I had the same problem with my LG LG 60PY3DF-UA turning itself off.
The problem was the 2 fans. One worked and the other did not. I replaced one $20.00 fan and the tv is fixed. It stays on.

Same tv, same problem. My friend gave the tv for me to work on. They use it with the back cover off. I can watch for hours but last few days just a few minutes then a few seconds. Both fans work. I tried most of the suggestions here that I can understand. There doesn't seem to be any caps bulging. There seems to be a buzzing sound which I am not sure is normal or not. Any other suggestions? There are too many boards to replace this tv.

Just an update. I wedged a resistor on the ac-on and and stby5v and seems to have done the trick. Will update if anything happens.

Can I get an explanation about the fix? Thanks

It died after an hour and when you turn it on, shuts after 5-7 secs.
