Samsung TV still doesn't work after replacing capacitors twice.

A couple of weeks ago my parents Samsung Ln46a630 TV began clicking On/Off. Apparently this is a common issue and was so suggested to replace the capacitors. It worked for one week, and the clicking started again. The power light flashes with no clicking, but still no picture.

Any idea was this may be caused by?

Any help will be very much appreciated!!!

Where did you get your replacement capacitors?

Did you use low ESR high reliability types, or "RadioShack specials"?

          Thanks for your replies!

I ordered these capacitors from amazon.com/ Parts Express. (The originals were in visibly good condition, but like I mentioned the repair did work for a week.

It doesn't say low ESR so it probably isn't. GP caps can't take the ripple so they don't last long if they even work at all. Do you still have the old caps so we can pick some better matches.

They are Lelon - stay away from them. They may work but they are even worse that the original Samwha WB or XC caps.

I just found an image of one original cap. They are made by Sanwha.

If needed I'd like to up them to 25v & 35v. Any recommendations? I'm thinking of these:

Re: Samsung TV still doesn't work after replacing capacitors twice.

I don't trust caps that are just labelled low ESR since anyone can do that. Cheaper brands also haven't quite worked out how to make a reliable capacitor. Or they have, but they cut costs in order to sell them cheap.

                  Try these:

                  http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...1203-ND/356107
                  http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...1223-ND/356126
                  +$2.75 shipping in USA

There is this myth going around the internet that Samsung overvolted these capacitors. They did many things bad but not that. If they had overvolted them, they would have popped in a couple of days, not 13 months. No need to increase the voltage rating beyond what the originals were.

The failure of the originals is probably due to a bad batch as some TVs have Samwha WB working fine after a couple years. I've also pulled about 9 Samwha caps from an LG Plasma and 4 from an LG LCD, so it affected both major Korean brands (using Korean capacitors of poor quality.)

Re: Samsung TV still doesn't work after replacing capacitors twice.

FM has lower ESR and more ripple than FC.

                    http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...2366-ND/613727
                    http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...2379-ND/613740

FC is Panasonic's "entry level" low ESR cap series. Panasonic FM/FR are their "better" grade in terms of ESR and ripple.

Choosing between FR/FM and FC all depends on what the original series of caps are. More details at

That's nice. Generally with a big box retailer they'll let you keep the broken one, so you can try and fix it and have two TVs.

                          Hi there,

                          I'm having the same problem.

I have the model LNS4041DX and I opened it up and replaced what seemed like two bad capacitors with 25V 1000uF Nichicon capacitors. Nothing on them said ESR, so I have no idea if they're any good or not, but the TV did not turn on and the clicking continued. I had never soldered before.

I'm in Canada and Samsung will not replace or help even though this model is under the class action lawsuit in the USA.

The power supply is: BN44-00134A and looks like:

                          Thanks!

Suspect all the caps in the upper right corner of your picture, as I recall 2 2200 uf, 2 1000 uf were bad on mine, replaced with rubycon and nichinon and been happily using my tv for 6 months now

                              order caps from digikey

its recommended that you replace with panasonic fr,fc,fm series

thats what i have been using since i signed up on this site and they have worked great
i always follow suggested recomemndations from the members on here because they know their stuff

i have also used rubicon caps if the panasonic caps are not available in the size i need
not sure what the opinions are on rubicon caps.

I also use mostly FM, FC panasonics or Nichicons with excellent results.
