I don't gamble, I like to verify a board is at fault first.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
It looks like there is a fuse on the main logic board; check if this is okay.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
See post 4. PlainBill calls it the main logic board.
That one?

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
Is that the same as the Logic-Main board?
I'll start a thread for the Panasonic.
Thanks

Well, I'm going to place a bet on the plasma control board being at fault, because you have sound and the startup chime. But I can't be certain.
Start a thread for the Panasonic.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
It would be rather nice to determine the cause. Strangely enough, we have been having startup problems with a Panasonic rear projection (and still are) and the Samsung, having been barely used and very reliable was being moved to replace it. It would be good to get one of them fixed.

That's good. That means the screen itself is probably good.

Yes. There are two flickers of light when I power on.
The screen has low level grey glow in dark room. Not noticeable in daylight.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
Do you get any light from the screen at all? YYou might need to turn all the lights out and close the curtains as it can be very faint on some plasma displays.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
For the heck of it, I measured the heat sink temps after 15 minutes of run time.
They were all warm, from 112F on the PS to 102F and 94F on the Y and X(Z) boards.

Stock screws were used - I thought the same thing initially but on examining the stand bracket inside the tv - plenty of clearance.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
if it worked fine till you reattached the stand is it possible you used the wrong bolts to put the stand on?iirc i saw this on a westinghouse.too long of bolts damaged a board.

Tom66...
Is the buzzing normal?
I disconnected each buffer in turn and saw no change.
Grasping at straws.

Hi tom66....
Yes - both boards-seems to emanate from the centre of the large heat sink on the left board. Hard to discern on the right board. Both very faint and slightly different pitch.

Re: Samsung 50" plasma blank screen
Do you hear a faint buzzing sound from either board on the left or right of the TV while in operation?
