    5w2r2j resistor

I have 2 5w2r2j cement resistors, , should i be able to test them like a reg resistor? I get 0 reading on them
    Thanks

What range are you using? That is a 2.2 ohm, 5% tolerance 5 watt resistor. You should get a meaningful reading on the 200 ohms scale.

Are you getting 0 (Zero) or O (Open)? When set to the 200 ohms range, the typical 3 1/2 digit DMM should distinguish between the probes shorted together and a 2.2 ohm resistor.

Are you sure it is not "OL" or "1" on the lefthand side? And do you definitely have it on the 200 ohm range?

Yes set to 200 and i get no reading, have tested at all settings to, no reading at all, this is on a cheap Element tv, there are 2 close to the line, both have same reading in and out of circuit.

I am sorry, meter just stays at 1, not 0, no change at all, like testing a wood stick.

Do you get "no reading" when the probes are not connected?

Does the reading change when you touch the leads of the device?

How to interpret your multimeter readings.

                  a) 0L on an autorange multimeter means open loop or infinitiy or out of range.

                  b) 0.0 is a unit of measure.

                  c) On manual range meters, "1" on the left hand side means the same as 0L.

                  d) Some people report "no reading" when they see "1" on the left hand side. This is easily the #1 mistake.

                  e) Some people report the quantity, but not what they are measuring (volts, ohms, etc).

                  f) Some people report 1.00 ohm, but it is really 1K ohm, because they forget their dial is set on 2K.

thats what i have , like (C) above i get a 1 on meter with and witout contact to the resistor, checked meter with others and read fine, I did order a few. I want to thank you for the help. will post results. Sorry for the confusion on the (0-1), Just had major back surgury and the meds sometime get abit in my way i guess.

that was the problem, tv now works fine. I beleave a power surge hit this tv, why it took out these 2 resistors, is strang as they supply power to the backlight inverter board
                      Thanks again

I am in the process of repairing a TV and I have 2 of the same resistors that are bad plus a N-MOSFET. Where were you able to find these parts?

                          Re: 5w2r2j resistor

looking for a mosfet k10a50d? I ordered that one and 10 of these resistors (smallest quantities available) from aliExpress. It's a long shot, but the LCD was free and the parts are cheap.
