Panasonic LCD TX32LX500 can't power

    Panasonic LCD TX32LX500 can't power

    I have this Tv cannot power up and no LED lights at all. Check all components found no issue. But I found that the the switching transformer one primary side coils to be open.

    Is this open circuit due to the blown internal thermal fuse?
    I can't find any replacement transformer online, can the fuse be replaced and reuse the transformer? anyone tried this and is it safe ?

      thanks for the link.
      I have a question on the video. is the thermal fuse connected in parallel to the coils on the pins? he solders the new fuse to the pins of the transformer thus it's parallel.
      I would thought that the fuse is in series connection to the coils so that in the event the fuse blown the transformer will stop working

        Think it through - there is a third alternative. In the above case the thermal fuse is the sensor for a protection circuit; it doesn't handle the load directly.

        If you are sure a primary winding is open it may be necessary to open up the transformer. It is very rare for windings themselves to go open. A thermal fuse or a bad solder joint are more likely, or the winding may have broken where it attaches to the pin.

            Hi guys
            I opened up the transformer, found the primary side coil with a broken wiring thus causing the open circuit. Found some corrosion on the thin wiring, its a 6 years old TV though. Found no thermal fuse.

            I reconnect the wiring and now the TV power up and seems fine.

              Good job!! A shop would have wanted $200 for the supply and $100 to install it. The supply would cost about $75 used. You invested some intelligence and a little labor and got it working for $.02 worth of solder.
