    HDMI 1 stopped working

    Strange problem

Last night was watching tv and turned off.

Woke up and turned tv and cable on and saw message that said I needed a valid HDMI tv in order for HDMI cable box to work. This happened sporadically. The channel would come in and then go back to that message.

I tried different HDMI cables, rebooting cable box, still same thing.

I hooked up the cable box via the component hook up and worked perfect.

My computer is hooked up via HDMI2 and it works great. When I switch it to HDMI1 the computer detects then undetects the TV.

Finally I just left the PC in the HDMI2 and the cable box in the component.

I also updated the firmware and still the same.

    HDMI1 is just not working.

Do you think it could be the tuner board ??

Re: Question on Philips 42" Plasma

There's a HDMI receiver IC usually for both channels. It's possible ESD (electrostatic discharge) or EOS (electrical overstress) has damaged one of the channels. You can't readily buy these chips on the market (due to pointless HDCP restrictions), so the only fix is to replace the tuner board as a whole, assuming that chip is at fault.

Re: Question on Philips 42" Plasma

Ok this TV makes me wonder if I should spend any more money.

First one of the HDMI goes out.

Now this morning after turning it on, went got some coffee come back, and the set is dead.

No lights nothing, no clicks, no blinks.

Took the back off and saw that the fuse was blown on the power board, replaced and it blew again.

Do you think its worth the money to invest any more money

          ?????

Re: Question on Philips 42" Plasma

Ok took out the power board and the fuse has this info "t8ah250vp"

I ordered some in hoping that it would work.

I also did some reading and saw that this is a hard fuse to find, but may just be the only problem.

In my previous post I said I replaced the fuse, that is not true, what I did was use aluminum foil and when I turned it on some green led came on on the power board but they went off after a few seconds.

Do you think I should dump any more money into this TV ??????????????

Re: Question on Philips 42" Plasma

One trick some TV technicians use is to insert a 60W or 100W filament lamp in series with the TV.
If there is a short the lamp will stay lit, but if there is no short the lamp will brightly glow for a short time (while the main cap charges) and then go out or go dim.

if you used aliminium foil as a fuse i would not be suprised if you have blown more parts on your board or even some of the tracks may of become open circuit it may be good to post some pics of the top and bottom of the power supply circuit board. have you know replaced with the correct fuse if so are any of the lights on the front of the set?

Had to order the fuses. Also pulled the power board for a much closer examination. I know it is not a definite way to verify damage but I do not see not one component that looks blown.

I took a bunch of pics and put them in an album.

Please have a look and tell me what you think

next to the fuse holder with the fuse missing there are 2 white tall resistors have you checked these it should say on them what ohm they should be?(i think theres also 1 to check by the 42 stamped on the heatsink) have you also re tested all the other fuses on the board since you removed the bad fuse?
picture 18 is that a red barrel fuse by the white connetors if so check this as well

I hope you are not easily offended but it is some time since I have had to look at so many fairly useless pictures. VR69 did well to pick out what he did
                        - we should have been able to read what it says on the sides of the resistors. Pictures to be any use for troubleshooting should look like this.

But that is only my opinion.

Any closer with my camera and its to blurry.

Will try to see if I could get some better ones. Are you looking for the entire board or just pieces of it ??

Full Boards Straight on Top and Bottom please. Tests on the cement resistors and fuse are priority - A 60inch set was fixed by replacing these recently - for a couple of dollars.

I have already change Y-SUS and buffers 2 times! But this TV keep burning my buffers boards!
When I do install the new Buffers board I been able to see only the top half part of the screen for about 10 min, and then it blow up again! The IC get very hot and I saw some smoke come out from it, so now I have another set of buffers burn out
My question it is: I disconnect...

Moderator: I hope I'm not breaking forum rules or decorum by posting my original question a different way (my previous thread focused on the low vscan readings - but I'm thinking maybe that's not as relevant and won't get me as far as diagnosing as the fact that I now have no picture or sound.)

                                    ==========

We all of the sudden started getting a washed out picture and rainbow colored static/snow.

Based on research when we got a low vscan reading we decided to replace the y board and y buffers.

Now I get no picture or sound - TV turns on...

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
                                    by aidanmo
                                    Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
                                    • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
                                    • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
                                    • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
                                    ...
