Ok, thanks to everyone. The TCON board arrived today in the post.

Had it fitted and running in about 20 minutes. Picture looks good, bit of ghosting but the only signal source I have in the workshop at the moment is an old group B outdoor antenna hanging from the ceiling, so was wasnt able to check picture for overall quality.

I will probably bring the set into the house over Christmas and plug it into a decent HD source.

All I need now is a remote!

Awesome! £25 to fix such a TV is always nice . Nice full HD set, too. Would like to upgrade from my trash picked 42" 720p to a 40" or 42" 1080p (also of course from the dump.)

Picked it up from a local free ads paper. Now i'm hooked 3 successful repairs this week.. im running out of TVs

One of the things I've noticed with Samsung LCDs and image ghosting is the digital noise reduction (DNR) feature is absolutely useless and makes everything look soft and blurry - turn it off for best results.

Connected up the laptop today and fed in a decent testcard image to see just how bad the ghosting actually was with a good signal.

The ghosting isn't that noticable and even less so in a photograph. However I did notice there is a bit of a problem between the yellow and cyan squares, a green vertical line like the colours were mixing.

^Probably another stupid image enhancer. Try turning off edge enhancement or sharpness down to minimum.
