HP PL4260N/HP PL5060N Plasma Screen Problems Black Blob

Here's a picture of the tv I drew the light blue line to show where the tv starts the black blob when first turning the tv on after on for awhile it seems to clear up some and after using the white wash program it brightens it up better but the color of the tv looks crappy, Any ideas?

Check this thread. Also, use the search function; there seem to be a number of threads on this TV.

The black blob is probably a Z-sustain problem. *Usually* the whole display is affected but if the timings go bad, varying areas of the display can be affected... That is of what happened with one plasma I repaired (varying brightness across screen, some dark patches etc.)

It's viable to fix, if you can find the Z-sustain at a reasonable price.

how much do you think this should run me like a $100 or so?

It depends on the model some Z-sus boards are ÂŁ10 others are ÂŁ200. You will need to take your set apart and record the model numbers.

Just wondering if you ever got around to replacing the zsus board? If so did this resolve the issue? I am asking because I have the same TV with an almost identical problem (mines across the whole screen but gets lesser the longer the TV runs).

If recovers after a long period of time, 99% of the time it's the Z-sustain. If it doesn't recover, it *could* be a panel problem, which is unrepairable (at least, it's not economical to do so.)

The economical aspect is of course is the biggest factor which is why Im trying to get it right the first time; because I am not sure how much money I'm willing to drop into the TV. The screen looks very similar to Jamzway's except the black portions reduces the longer the TV stays on, and once the TV is warm the black "blobs" only happen when the picture changes a lot. Also the color is off (awkward tint) similar to Jamzway's as well. My question is: if as the TV warms-up the "blobs" lessen, does do still point the finger at the Z sustain board? Or are there any other culprits that I should consider?

                              Hi everyone !

HP PL5060N - I bought (second hand) plasma TV HP PL5060N.
When I switch TV on, there is an initialization to a conclusion of a trade mark HP, and the normal job with a picture of excellent quality begins. Approximately in 10 - 15 minutes, flares start to appear on the screen. After that screen becomes bright (white) and turns off, but still hear the sound perfectly.
For the control I have connected other TV as the monitor to the plasma TV HP PL5060N output. This screen testing TV did not turn off and any flares could not be seen on it.
I turn off plasma TV HP PL5060N literally on 5 -10 seconds and again I have to switch it on. TV starts to work as if you just turn it on, there is an initialization to a conclusion of a trade mark HP, and a picture of an excellent quality shows on, but approximately in 5 - 10 minutes same flare occurs and the screen turns off.

I opened a back cover of this plasma TV HP PL5060N. There are no external damages of the elements to be found.
                              Power Set - SONY APS-219; E135516; 1-868-783-12; EP- (GW+LP).

                              V +5V
                              +VA +60V
                              +VS +195V

When the screen turns off, the voltage (+VS) decreases from 195V to 95V.
I have tried a little to reduce +VS voltage from 195V to 180 V. The working time of the TV has increased, but still it turns off in a manner it used to do before.

How is it possible to find out:

1 - the voltage (+VS) falls from 195V to 95V as a result of unstable job Power Set

                              OR

2 - the voltage (+VS) falls from 195V to 95V as a result of capacity increase in any out board (ZSUS OR YSUS board) or in plasma panel itself (screen PDP)?

Can someone suggest how to remove this problem ?

Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

                                Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...
