    Vizio Plasma TV JV50P

Hello Everyone. New to this site but found it very useful in diagnosing my original problem. I have a 5 YO Vizio plasma TV JV50P HDTV10A. I was having trouble with it for about 4 months. The first thing in the morning the unit would give the Vizio trumpet call, burr/burr and not come on. The sound on the wireless rear sparkers would work. Wait about a minute and turn it off, then on and the picture would work fine for the rest of the day. Then last month, the unit was taking almost 15 minutes to come on. Then on day, it would only give the trumpet sound and would not come on. After searching this site and others, I took off the back to see if I could see the blown caps. There were several on the PS board. So I purchased a board from an ebay seller. Board came in 2 days, looked great. I installed in and turned on the TV. To my surprise, no trumpet sound, but also no picture. sound works now out of the front speakers normally, but there is absolutely no picture, no menu, no indication that the panel is trying to turn on.
What is strange is that it worked with the trumpet sound for some time. But would always come on. Now with the new PS board nothing.
Another stance thing, they state on the back that Va = 58v and Vs= 192v. I could not get these readings on my meter. Possible problem?
Another thing I noticed there are 4 LEDs on the inverter board. 3 come on at power up. They are labeled D2, D3, D4 D5. 3,4,5 come on at power up then 3 goes out. D2 never comes on. Is this a problem?

A lot of information here and hopefully I explained all the symptoms that I have. I am not a board guy, but I kind of know my way around things. Hopefully I didn't waste my money on a new PS board. Plasma's only cost $500 and I already spent $100.

To replace the bad caps, it would have probably cost you less than $20 USD + shipping (if you are in USA) in caps from digikey (you get it in 48 hours). Desolder the old ones and solder in the new ones. By replacing the caps on your original PS, you are guaranteed to get quality brand name caps.

Your replacement PS might also have bad caps as well (just not bloated). Capacitors die from age, heat, and shoddy build quality. Capacitors DO NOT have to be visibly bloated in order to bad. They can be out of tolerance uF (a 1000uF measures 20uF) and/or have high ESR (ohm). A multimeter will be insufficient to test for ESR. For that you need an ESR tester which costs between $50 and $300.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Retiredcaps has covered most of the points; here's a few suggestions.

      1. Doublecheck the power output connectors; make sure they are positioned properly.

      2. Remove the new power supply and reinstall the old. Verify you get the proper readings for Va and Vs. If you do, contact the seller and RMA it.

      3. It's a detail - plasma TVs don't have inverters.
