    LCD Standby issues..

    Hi All..

I'm trying to find an answer to a problem that's driving me mad!

I have a 32" Onyx LCD TV. Model number SW3210LCD

The Tv is stuck with just the red standby light on and no matter what you press on the remote or the Tv itself it will not switch on.

I have replaced the power board with a similar spec board thinking that this could be the problem, but, after replacing it today nothing has changed! The same light comes on but nothing after.

I have also checked all the boards for blown capacitors and fuses.

I thought maybe it could be the switch but it has an inbuilt on off switch 'presumeably to save you reaching for the plug on a night time and the normal power switch. But surely the remote would factor that switch out?? I'm just wondering if there is anything I have to do to the new board likes of a reset to get it working again?:

Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks for looking everyone!

The usual process is to perform a few simple tests to make sure the fault is the power supply BEFORE ordering a replacement.

Virtually every LCD television uses a dual power supply. The standby supply is on whenever the TV is plugged in. The main supply is switched on and off by the main board. It's a good idea to determine if the main board is trying to turn on the main supply and failing (power supply problem) or is not trying to turn on the main supply (main board problem).

Thank you for your reply.. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but, I only just realised that I don't have email alerts turned on to notify me of responses.

I bought the part on reccomendation from the person I bought the tv off. They had the same problem a couple of year back and the tv repair man told them it was the power board.. I'll try and upload a picture of the internals to highlight the board I mean.
Anyway after replacing said board, nothing has happened. So obviously it wasn't this board or as I mentioned before, Is there something I have to do when replacing a board?
Thanks again , and I'll try and upload now.

        In general, no.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
          by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

          After all of...

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
          by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
          by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
          CN6401
          Pin 01 NC
          Pin 02 NC
          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
          Pin 04 "N/C"
          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

I tried switching the power supply board with another similar monitor and it works,so I'm trying to fix this power supply board I got some basic in electronics as a hobbyist.
