    Philips 47PFL7403D/27

I have a Philips 47PFL7403D/27 that the screen/video goes black. The audio never fails, however, the picture will go black. I hear popping/cracking coming from the upper left side of the tv (looking from the back or right side looking from front). I can shut the tv off and back on again which usually brings the video back. I have called two tv repair companies and they will not look at it. I have researched this on the internet and it appears this is a commong issue with Philips. I called Philips and since my tv is out of warranty they claim no responsibility. Is this something that i can repair? Is this a power board problem? Any suggestion would be embraced.

If you can get the backlights on somehow, try to lower the contrast or the brightness and see if it changes. Just a hunch.

I personally HATE Philips. Philips makes bad LCD TV's no matter what name they put them under. Philips makes Magnavox and LG's. They are all crap.

Sounds like an inverter board transformer is failing. I had a similar model with the same symptoms. a new inverter fixed it.

Try getting the reference from the original invertor board (you're going to have the TV opened) and search a bit on the Net. The TV model Nr could help as well.

If you don't manage to do it yourself, please come back here with mentioned references and we'll try to help.

          Good luck!

IS the inverter board on the left side of the set?

This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...
