    Samsung Plasma 50"

I have been troubleshooting this tv for a while. It is a HP-P5071 Samsung 50".
I replaced the a/v input board because this tv was part of a JBL system and had one input from a special receiver. It quit working so I took it out of a house and started troubleshooting it . I looked up all the part# and concluded it is a HP-P5071. The problem is it does not want to come on properly I have to turn it on and off a few times to get it on. I checked the powersupply and all the voltages are within spec. When I turn it on it comes on to a light grey screen with no picture. I reset it a few times and it comes on and stays on I have watched multiple movies without problems.
    Any Ideas?

When it comes up to a gray screen do you get sound?

Are there any bulging caps on the power supply board? A picture of the power supply board would be appreciated. Note links in my signature. Please attach the picture using 'Manage Attachments' below the text entry area.

No bulging capacitors, there is actually two boards for the powersupply one big one and one little one. I had the power supply tested at a tv repair shop, and they said it is good. I will work on getting some pictures.

this tv has no speakers and no where to connect speakers , so no way to see if the sound works.

I don't have any definite answers, but do have a few ideas. What is the model number of the panel? If it is possible to locate a service manual for the panel, you may be able to put the panel in test mode. That will allow you to determine if the problem is the input card, or the cards normally supplied with the panel.

Had a similar issue with a plasma a while back. Can't remember if it was samsung or not, but I recommended he replace the PS board. He did and it worked.

Wish I could provide more/better info, but I'm getting old.

edit: my recommendation was based on googleing the model and there were quite a few people with the same problem.

No luck on locating a service manual for the panel. The problem COULD be due to a bad power supply.

it could still be the power supply even if all the voltages are good?

I turned the tv on checked the voltages with just the gray screen. Vs ,Va good coming from powersupply. I checked the voltages at some test points on the y-sus board Vscan,Vs,Vsc-h all match the label on the panel. I then checked them all after turning the tv on and off a few times to get a picture and they all read the exact same thing

I was thinking in terms of a lower voltage supply with excessive ripple, or that comes up too slowly. Troubleshooting intermittents is one of the jobs from heck that I don't wish on anyone.
