"If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Hint: Try Googling the part number of the lamp and buy.

These lamps have tight color temperature tolerances and the reflectors are precision aligned to the arc tube (bulb) by machine for the proper beam pattern.

Since demand for them isn't as great as say fixture bulbs and they're made in smaller quantities most are hand made. These people are real skilled glassblowers quartz is a hard material to work with. This isn't something Chinese minimum wage can accomplish. They can be made by machine but since some manufacturers can't justify the price of the machinery. It costs less to hire the glassblowers due to the low demand (and production numbers).

That is why these lamps cost so much more than standard metal halide (fixture grade) lamps which are mass produced by machine.

$200 sounds about right that's the price of a lamp for my Infocus X3 I bought in 05.

I take it some seller unloaded this to you on E-bay? Common practice for sellers to sell them when the lamps are nearing failure.

There is no cheap place for lamps check E-bay for a good price on a new bulb or maybe find a low hours used one (buyer beware on the sellers honesty) those are your only two options.

Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

yes and no lol.. i have three of these projectors.

I started out with one, bought off of craigslist, "needs bulb"

Not knowing any better i bought it. Found lamps were over 200.

got on ebay, found and bought an entire parts projector described as " works but has colored splotches, bad color engine, 200 hours on lamp"
got it for like $40. Lamps arc bumb ares clear, this really is a low hour lamp.

PERFECT. Before i rob the lamp, i take this one apart, I Find dust bunnies on the lenses, clean it all out, this one has a perfect picture now!!!!!!

Well now. I want one in my living room( we have a vaulted celing and a projector screen) but it would be nice to have one downstairs in my arcade room for a video wall type of thing..

so i get on ebay again, find another one "works but color splotches etc"
this one i was unble to clean but lamp was good, so now i had 2 lamps and 2 good projectors, one partially working projector less lamp for parts.

That was all well and good untill a few days ago i was in the arcade room. games on, 80s mucis videos blasting through the stereo and on screen with the projector. All of a sudden i hear BOOM.. frickin projector falls about 6 feet down onto my basement floor!! wtf?? Turns out it was not sitting as secure as i had thought.

I figure its junk right? when trying to power on bakes a nasty buzz then shuts off. I pull the lamp, its broken. I take my only remaining good lamp from my other working projector, fire it up, PICTURE STILL PERFECT!!! these things are tough man!!!!!

so not im down to one good projector, one good projector with broken lamp, and one parts projector.
SO thats the story he he .

If you want to see this in action before it died check this out:

I have a dlp tv, ive found some lamps for that for like $60-80, i just wish i could find one for this thing so cheap.
