Good quality pictures. A couple of things you might want to check: In the lower left corner, between the two transformers and to the left of the orange capacitor, it looks like a dead worm is wrapped around ??? Above the upper of the transformers, near the top of the board, the white rectangular ?resistor? looks like it might have been dislodged.

Hi Bill, yes the worm is actually a bead of silicone type stuff! I noticed the resistor too but it is securely soldered.

This points to a problem with the D-board. The fact that the LEDs on the SC and SS boards are lit mean that they are most likely working properly.

Thankyou for the reply, not sure which is the D board sorry, is this the main av board or the psu, I suspect the av board, if I unplug the ldvs cable to the main board I get a full white screen

              thanks Ronnie

The D-board is the control board of the plasma. It should be behind the cage that houses the main board or av board.

No way to test it that I know of. There should be a troubleshooting diagram for no picture in the service manual for this generation of plasma. You can find it at elektrotanya.com. Search for the TH-42PZ80U it is the same chassis and parts as the TH-42PZ8B. Make sure you download the service manual for that TV and not the training manual for the entire PZ8xx series. I have run across this problem a couple of times in the past and the D-board was the problem.

That's a weird PSU, I've been trying to figure it out. I don't see any diodes for the secondary output, anywhere... and I see a lot of holes where diodes could go. Also, no PFC stuff but places for them. Has someone decided to remove all these components?

Most of the components on these Panasonic PSUs are soldered in from underneath and attached to the large metal shield that also acts as a heat sink.

I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                                        Then each time...

Hi everyone. I've been given a dead Pana 55DX600u that I hope to save from landfill. I suspect the tcon board or UC1 on that board.

Set will flash green led and attempt to start, backlight gives a brief flash then set shuts down and red led flashes slowly. Voltages out of PSU look ok. TCon board gets 12v at fuse when attempting to start and 3.3v on L1 but main IC gets warm very quickly (heatsink/cover removed, felt with back of hand) during the second or two the 12v is applied before PSU shuts down. TVS diodes on lvds input lines are not shorted, no caps appear to be shorted. ...

                                        Hey everyone!

I've gotten this TV for free, neither have it seen a TV repair man, neither have it been opened before.

This post describes my entire troubleshooting process of this TV.

When I turn it on using the ON/OFF switch at the side of the TV, the light rapidly flashes green, then it stays on, but it does not react to any of the remote buttons, side buttons, and doesn't play audio.

I've taken the unit apart, and I've started to check some voltages:

                                        • On the P11 connector, there is 15V DC only for a brief moment, then it goes
