    sony kdf- 55wf655

Hi guys i have a sony kdf 55wf655 tv and the bulb went out so i bought a new one and stuck it in and the unit is still not turning out. I took it apart and the power supply looks ok and every other logic board i could find. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated

Are there any blinking power lights or lamp lights, anything? I had worked on a couple of sets now where the problem was simply that the door to the lamp was not closed properly. Check this and make sure that it is exactly how it came apart. There is a micro-switch that will keep the set from coming on if the door doesnt close the switch.

Without ANY lights, check the power supply. The same as any LCD TV you
have to have standby before anything else will work. There are no major issues with the power supply. The power supply is the horizontal board behind the ASU/DSU stand up pair that you see when you take the back off.

First thing I would do is take that lamp back out before I try to turn it on again. See if you get lights then. A "buzz" might be a loaded power line feedback.

            Service manual is here.

6 red blinks seems to be the thermal fuse under the lamp.

              Lamp driver or Q box, times-No "DD 6V " output (G1 board).

Interesting that this TV was working and that these problems happened concurrently to a lamp change.

ok so i did some research and it looks like they polarizing lens for the blue gets degraded over time due to heat. so i took mine apart and sure enough it looks foggy and discolored. . now im thinking of replacing the lens its self but i have a few questions.

                    1. do you think this will fix the issue
2.how hard is it to adjust the lens ( took out the others to make sure they wernt messed up as well and might have knocked off the adjustment.)

polarizer is not the problem. It's the LCD itself. They can be changed but need alignment after doing so. This can take quite some time and is largely experimental moving of the LCD in small increments while watching the picture.

Is this a TV you came bu or have you owned it since it was new?

Have your friend contact Sony. They will replace it for him. He must have the original receipt.
