    Vertical bars on screen

    Hi all,

I have three vertical, 2" bars on the left side of my Samsung 50" plasma screen model FPT5084X\XAA. They came about after the unit was shut off and on a few times. I have worked on issues and have found blown fuses on the powersupply and faulty capacitors.

I have an image of the problem. Lines on left are missing data. Totally dark. This is the case in any mode.

Which board is causing my problem? Y-main, X-main, Logic?

I appreciate any input on this issue.

X drivers, or if the drivers are mounted on the ribbon cables, it's the plasma panel itself. If this model has the drivers on the ribbon cables, it's unrepairable.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

      Re: Vertical bars on screen

I had a problem with the plasma a few years back when I purchased this unit. It was replaced under warranty. There was snow all over the screen. So Samsung, has not proven to be very reliable. I had to repair my in-laws as well. They had caps that had gone bad, blown fuses due to power surge, easy stuff. For a few cents problem solved, I can live with that.
      Thanks Bill

BTW - What do "drivers on the ribbon cables" look like? Are they imbedded?

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
          by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed๐Ÿ™
          by Daren87
          Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
          by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

          Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
          by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesnโ€™t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
