yea its relevance was to support the reason why there was a jumper soldered to the backside........ just incase you happen to buy a board and it has that on there, then you'll know why
yea i hear ya there.... we're in the same boat. Ya know i got to thinking about the chain of events leading up till now with my tv, and somethings weird. This is why......
Initially the tv was working fine, i hooked it up to a desktop pc to use as a monitor and all was well. I rebooted the pc, tv screen went black and never came back on. I would get the red standby light come on when i plugged in the power cord, but that was all. No blue light or backlights would come on.
So i bought the FIRST mainboard (used) installed it and the tv would power on, blue light on, backlights on, and i would get a BLUE Screen but no polaroid logo or anything else. i sent that board back and bought the SECOND mainboard (used), which is the one i currently have. Now this is where things change, i get the tv to power on, blue light on, backlights on, but no blue screen, its black. now thats where its throwing me off, because im starting to think it might be something other than the mainboard..........
yea i still have the original main board, and i have not done any tests on the power supply.... the fact that it quit working isnt what i find weird, its the difference between the FIRST and SECOND boards that i purchased..... one gives me a black screen the other gave me a blue screen...
Hey PlainBill, i have a question that may help shed new light on my issue here. A black screen seems to indicate that the LCD is blocking light - if you disconnect the LVDS does the screen (slowly) go white?

It sounds like you have boards with two different problems. A blue screen USUALLY indicates the video processor is signalling a 'No Signal' condition. A black screen could be no signal out of the video processor

well i guess it doesnt surprise me that both boards would have separate issues. the seller of the second board was helping me to try and figure out what was going on. but ever since i brought this same question to his attention, he hasnt responded. so im becoming more convinced that this second board has an issue as well. On a side note, i did figure out a way to take "good quality & close-range" pics with my camera phone. I utilized one of the lens's from an old cdrom drive and attached it to my camera phone, with scotch tape.... i attached a sample pic

Son of a gun!!! That is an excellent picture. Well, the field of view leaves a little to be desired, but it is easy to identify the IC.

hehehe well thank you, im glad i was able to produce a good quality pic. yea the field of view is what im trying to fix without degrading the quality..... lol ill get it figured out
this is the widest view i could achieve with what i had to work with....

Reason: update
i unplugged the lvds cable and there was no change..... so would it be either the lvds cable or tcon board??
Sounds a lot like the backlight then.

Well, that is unexpected... maybe the LCD is a normally black display but I thought most were normally white.

Main board or TCON. Unlikely to be PSU, but it could be...
This is why I hate repairing cheap electronics, there is rarely a simple answer to a problem.
I haven't read through the thread thoroughly, can you give me a run down of problems you have and tests you have done?
