    Sharp Aquos LC-26D40U display issue

    Greetings-

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-26D40U purchased new in December 2007 (warranty expired). Recently it began this: When turned on, the picture is fine and everything operates as it should. After a few minutes, the screen begins acting up as seen in the photos below. At first, if you turn it off for a few minutes and then turn back on, the screen returns to normal until it warms back up again. Obviously something heat related.

With the nature of the problem, I suspected and replaced the T-CON board, but that didn't work. I also cleaned and tightened all ribbon cables and their connections. Mainboard?

This happens regardless of input selected. If the menu is selected, it is also distorted.

(BTW- all other artifacts on screen only show up in photo. Not actually there)

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    David

Could be a few things, but I would say start at the video board becouse it does not seem to be consistant. I would look for caps that are going bad, or overheating logic chip. I would also check thecable going to the screen from it. and last it may be a bad screen, but it should do that all the time if it was, and flexing it would make it better or worse depending.

Could you clarify what mean by "Video Board"? Aside from the T-con the only other boards are the scaler, the input board, the mainboard and the inverters.

Instead of somone looking for the answer to this problem and then being re-directed to a site that may not be still up, I am posting the post where the answer was found. Below -

"If you have found a way to re-bond the tabs without using a 1.5 million dollar tab bonding machine please share. I'm not trying to be funny here. If there is a way to do it I would like to know. You can bang on the edge of an LCD panel and sometimes make the tab re-connect (or make more open connections in the process) but I am sure that it will come back."

"Ya I know - I was skeptical as well.

Basically the fix involves using some "bumpons" along the top and edges of the tabs that have gone bad which puts some slight pressure on them. The trick is getting them in the right positions so that they manipulate the tab in just the right way and allow the connections to be re-made.

It may not be a perfect solution, but so far the TV I fixed is holding strong and it certainly beats trashing the TV."

For people who don't know (myself included) what a bumpon is, look at the sample photo. I called them "rubber feet". I think I'll give it a try on my laptop that has a single vertical line showing on the screen.

Sharp Aquos Lc-80LE757U flashing Sharp on screen when plugged in
                    by sefoster
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100 - BIOS Issue, Black Screen
                    by wizard13
                    Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a BIOS-related issue with my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100. When I power on the laptop, the screen stays black, and there is no response from the system. I suspect a corrupted BIOS.

I have checked the forum and the available documentation but could not find a solution specific to my issue.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

HELP - Contrast/brightness issue with subtitles on screen
                    by cloudy
                    Hi everybody
Since day one I'm having an unpleasant contrast/brightness issue on my Asus laptop.
Basically while watching movies, if subtitles appear on screen, the contrast or the brightness of the entire screen increases a lot (not sure if it'is brightness or contrast), disturbing the viewing of the movie.

Last year I replaced my screen because got damaged and this contrast/brigthness issue persists. It happens only on the laptop screen, in fact If i plug an external HDMI screen the issue does not occour on it.

It occours both on ubuntu and windows...

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
                    by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...
