Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
Oh ok D for diodes that explains the arrows. D stands for dummy me too.
Luckily upon further inspection it seems the old U10 has seen better days so I guess its the culprit hope this is the only problem.
Man does that iphone take great closeups.

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
Hello I have a similar problem with a Vizio VX32L i picked up cheap since I have a VW32L and VX37L working fine.
Vizio light would glow but nothing else. When I swapped out the main board from the VW32L the TV worked So the problem is narrowed down to this board.
Its removed from the TV so I located the fuses with the help of this forum.
D32- ok
D30 - BAD
D45 - ok
D53 - BAD
D9 - ok
D54 - BAD
Does this seem likely that 3 fuses all went bad? I dont know how to identify these to find replacements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I read as much as I could here so i hope i've not repeated a common issue.
I havent tried to tackle something like this since 10th Grade electronics class back in the late '70's but im getting bored with my regular job and getting cheaper as I age.Leave a comment:

So is it possible white screen could be from bad caps on main board? There's a lot of themLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
Better pics but not great - All the caps that are bent are they simply bent and not the plugs coming out at the bottom? Also check none are snapped off In the bottom right hand corner of pic 1 there is an ic with 16 legs it has a brown mark on it. Is that just the pic, just some lacqer stain or a burn? The bigger cap leaning over it also has brown on the end is that just the pic or has it leaked.
Its also not good news to see that they are mainly TaiconLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
I keep coming back to this - there are loads of caps on that board I have a small faulty tv with a similar number, perhaps more, and I just cant get my mind round replacing them all.
Can you try for better picture of it to see if we can spot anything and also
one of the power supply. I think cashkennedy had a problem on this set
with a faulty trace so the regulators sometimes measured ok and sometimes they didnt. I believe it is a holiday weeekend in the us so I guess there are less members online.Leave a comment:

I'm also seeing one cap on the main board that appears to have a 'slight' bulge, hard to tell but looks a little bulged compared to the others...Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
So assuming 5v is OK, still can either be main board OR LCD controller board is bad? I found this from a book:
Bad Main board- Yes a faulty Main board itself can’t send signals
to the Controller IC. A defective voltage regulator, Scalar IC,
MPU, EEprom and shorted surrounding SMD components could
cause white display problem. Make sure there is signals flowing to
the Controller board before you confirm is the Main board
problem. You can test it by using Oscilloscope on the points at the
connector either in the Main board or the Controller board side.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
OK Sorry - I was reading the number upside down on the board and
the part that was the same registered the rest didnt. I have searched on the other board numbers and came up with this, which suggests 5v is ok
A Later Version VT is 12v. but perhaps budm will confirm.Leave a comment:

Thats from the label on the back of the LCD screenLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
I am not sure but I think he means the label on the actual screen panel
I think you think he means the label of the tcon? Some panels use 5v and some use 12vLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
The part # on the label is 59.31T03.061/01
Hope that helpsLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
I am not sure if your panel is 5V or 12V panel, most 32" I worked on use 12Vdc for powering the T-CON. Can you see the label on the panel so I can look up the spec?Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
Ok Main board pic is not really clear enough for trouble shooting, having said that there are two fuses I can see just above the second connector from the left.
They are white rectangles with gold? ends- board may be marked as F1 & F2 but I cant read it.
On the Tcon there is a white fuse near the right hand end of the connector at the bottom of the pic - it looks to have a red marking on it.
There may be others - now you know what to look for you can look.
To test these POWER OFF for 5 mins Meter set on OHMS 200 one probe on each end - should be the same as touching the probes together. Post resultsLeave a comment:

Re: Vizio VX32L turns on with backlight, no video or sound
May as well do both while youve got the camera going - its only to help you locate the fuses at the moment. Go carefully if the T con is attached to the panel.Leave a comment:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

by Super360Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...
