    Re: Samsung LN-T3242H power supply

I took another look at the back of the board and found a burnt resistor at RP817, removed it and it tested open. i dont have my camera with me to take a picture, however I found a schematic. I am not sure what type of resistor that is, can you help me find the correct replacement? thanks!!

I also have a bn44-00173a that i have for spare parts. If i could found out the top number value, I could pull one off the 173a board.

Well, it would appear to be a 6.8 ohm resistor in a 2012 package. I'm not sure what J stands for.

        Because of it's location, I would also check DP814, DZP801, and QP801S.

So the code on top of the SMD should be 6R8?

and do you think a 4R7 would work in its place?

Let me answer your question by asking another. Let's assume you are a rather well proportioned male who wears jeans with a 32" inseam, 34" waist. Would you be pleased if your wife bought you a pair of jeans with a 38" inseam, 24" waist?

Changing values in the gate drive circuit of the main power FET is a good way to blow more expensive components, such as the main power FET.

I believe they package is the metric designation. J would indicate a 5% tolerance. They appear to have them on Digikey, P6.8CECT-ND.

Did you check the other components associated with this resistor? It is very unlikely this resistor would fail unless some other component also failed.

I did check the other components and QP801S was the original shorted component and that has been replaced. however I will order a new one because I used that FET from an older board I had around. DP814 and DZP801 tested OK in circuit.

Good work. Odds are the resistor smoked when the FET shorted.

0 volts for off, about 3V for On. One source suggested using 2 AA batteries to supply 3.2 volts, I'd try using a 1K resistor from 5V standby to the ON pin.

since i was stumped, i plugged the board in and took some voltages. while i was doing that the IC at ICP801S got so hot it started smoking and almost took it self off the board. before i order the new chip, is there something else that could cause that chip to fail? thanks.

Not necessarily. That is in the Hot (or Live) ground area. Use the negative lead of CP803? (150uF, 450 V) as the ground point, not the chassis.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

This Samsung combined power supply and inverter was replaced a while ago from a Samsung 37inch LE37B530P7W TV. However I would like to repair this one.
I have replaced the Mosfets Q1820 and Q1821 ( FDPF7N50U) which were both blown and the fuse FM802S. The schematic for this power supply that is attached doesn't relate to this power supply as the driving transistors and diodes are D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 are nowhere on the schematic!
