CCFL not starting properly with replacement Inverter

    Hi,

Please see these threads for past issues to do with me trying to fix this Toshiba 32C3035D TV.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12604

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12874

I am now at the stage where I have replaced the inverters with different units from a Philips TV that looked almost identical (same connectors for 24V input).

I didn't have the correct ribbon cable and using a CAT5 cable introduced too much resistance. So I instead created an extension cable for the right hand CCFL and then used short lengths of wire to connect the boards together (see attached), separated by plastic stand-offs.

The PCB design had nice copper pads that went to each pin which made connecting in this way quite easy and I'm sure nothing is shorted out. The extra wire in the picture is just a grounding wire as they old units were screwed to the chassis, which I can no longer do.

    Problem :

The backlights now turn on for 2 seconds and aren't bright enough to light the whole screen (blackish area in the middle of screen). I've seen what it was like with the old inverters and it should be much, much brighter!

    - Are the inverter boards simply not powerful enough? (the MOSFETs on the old boards do seem much bigger)

    - Are the voltages just wrong for these CCFL units and I need to replace them with different ones?

    Any ideas?

Re: CCFL not starting properly with replacement Inverter

From what I've read - there are several specs for a CCFL:

    - Strike Voltage
    - Steady State Voltage
    - Steady State Current
    - Steady State Power Consumption

As the tubes light up - I'm guessing the first two aren't the issue - but it's probably the current available that is the issue.

Considering the size of the MOSFETs on the old inverter boards were so much bigger (which I'm assuming means delivers more power) - could it be as simple as me replacing those with larger ones - or would the rest of the circuit need adjustment too?

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
      by ttmi100x
      Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

      Upon closer inspection...

Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV No Backlights and Flashlight Test Fail
      by signal.quest
      Hi all,

I have been working on a Samsung LN40C630K1F LCD TV. On power up the backlights only briefly light up when first powered on then they go out (2 seconds to black). The flashlight test also fails. The sound works fine. Please see attached pics.

I have researched the forums a lot. I have watched the videos of trying to locate the bad CCFL or transformer and bypassing. I can't find any evidence of a bad transformer/CCFL. I verified I get 376V from the big caps to the fuse. I have used a small/cheap oscilloscope and it looks like the MOSFETs on the inverter...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
      by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

Power Inverter Replacement Circuit Board Question?
      by jdbird613
So my Ampeak 2000 watt power inverter will receive power from a 12 volt source, and also has a display screen that displays how many volts the inverter is currently using...However, the plug outputs are not producing any power outward...The display screen on the inverter also shows how many volts an item that is plugged in is currently using...Which stays at 0 and no items will power on...I opened the inverter casing and discovered there is some charring and burned areas on one end of the circuit board...What I am trying to figure out is if I can purchase/obtain a new board exactly like the board...

      APSINT3636VR 3600W APS INT Series 36V DC 230V AC Inverter/Charger schematic

I have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.

It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...
