My problem is my Sony KE-32TS2E Plasma tv. Was given to me by a friend who's just upgraded to a 42" lcd. Tv has worked with no probs for a number of years.
Anyways, I have the tv now. When I turn it on, the picture displays as normal for about 1 second then fades out to dark/greyish with green hue, then 'click' and the tv turns off. I could hear the sound no probs for the split second it was on. After checking the service manual, I've set about trying to repair it.
I purchased a pair of boards from ebay (X & Y sustain boards) as they were the first 2 suspect parts (as suggested in the service manual)
I replaced the X-sustain board - still same fault. Then I replaced the Y-sustain board and now I can turn the tv on and it will stay on until I switch it off.
Only problem is the picture fault is still visible...
So now I'm thinking the PSU board is at fault. I've checked the voltages from the PSU to the X & Y boards. Think I've found it...
There should be 80v, 55v, GND & 5v coming out of the PSU...
When I initially turn the TV on, the PSU outputs 80v, but then drops to 65v - this happens just as the screen starts dimming. The other voltages are spot on (I don't have an oscilliscope to check them properly)
From what I read, this is a common fault with this set. I'd prefer to try and fix the PSU board before shelling out £100 for a new PSU.
I've checked ALL the caps on the PSU, they all look fine. Are there any other specific parts I should be looking at? Maybe a weak mosfet? Dry solder joint?
I will try and upload a picture of the screen when I get chance.
ANY help greatly appreciated!
