Re: sony kdl-32l5000 nice picture after 10m goes dark no picture
It's a 32" LCD TV. That's might be why he posted in this section.
To the OP, Try looking through the vents on the back of the TV. You may be able to see the brightness of the backlights (this may be easier in a dark room). Do the backlights go out, do they get dim, or do they retain the same brightness?

When the screen goes dark are the lights still on, or do they go off? If they go off, do they slowly fade off or do they go off abruptly?
Remember, this is Garbage In, Garbage Out. We can't see what is happening; you have to give us as much information as possible.

Re: sony kdl-32l5000 nice picture after 10m goes dark no picture
Since the thread has seemed to have died hopefully I can revive it. I am having the exact same issue, except it takes about 30 minutes to happen. The back light is completely out and the color fluxes just before it shuts off. The shut off literally takes a couple of seconds. I would suspect inverter but one of the heat sinks on the power board gets excessively hot and the longer it is left off the longer it will stay on the next time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Comment

Let's start with the pictures, please. Use "Manage Attachments" and post the following (as close to 2000 x 2000 as you can): one of the entire back with the cover off (overall shot), top/bottom of the power board and top/bottom of the logic board.Comment

I agree on the pictures. One over-all shot so we can see what is connected where, and top and bottom of the power supply with the overheated heat sink tagged.

Re: sony kdl-32l5000 nice picture after 10m goes dark no picture
Hi there, since NO-ONE can give you an educated answer, I'll help you out.
You will need to replace BOTH backlight Inverter boards (if your model has 2)
Generally when one goes, the other one won't be far from dying. The backlight shutting down is due to the inverter switching itself off (overcurrent/overvoltage protection). The transformers on the inverter boards break down with time & temp and can give problems such as flickering, NO backlight, or a few seconds then turning off.
Here's one on ebay - it's for the KDL-32L4000 but should fit your model. Ask the seller first tho.

Let's see the pics, then go to the much cheaper and more fun component level first. Only after much thought should we draw the "R" word out of the holster.....Comment

by DanstonaWas watching this set, and suddenly it went dark. Picture is still visible, just very dark. Tried checking all settings, adjusting brightness to 100% no change. Reset through menus, no change.
bought used boards from ebay (power and input boards) replaced with same results, changing brightness does seem to have a slight affect.. but not to normal visibility of picture.
I'm handy, fixed TVs before.. I can't see any issues with boards... hoping someone can point me in the right direction to properly diagnose. I don't believe the LEDs are caput, since the picture is on and equal... -
by CyberPhoenixHello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by Bazfletch3Hi all
While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).
I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.
From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however... -
