What board controls the brightness of the screen on a plasma display. The picture is ok in a poorly lit room but in a room with lights on I can barely see the picture. This is a 2005 model. I already changed the zsus board.

You need to check your voltages from the power supply against the sticker on the panel.
There will be a white sticker in the upper right hand corner or left hand corner on the pdp itself. looks something like this va/60 vs/175
You will be able to find va and vs on the power supply board.
Was the picture better after you changed the z board? It will need the v set on it as well. -

not better after I changed the board the same. from reading on here I think i need to change the other board. The one I changed had a burn trail on it so i know it was bad.Comment

i am teaching myself to work on tvs. I already repaired 2. both of those were lcd. This plasma is older and more to it, so it seems. I repaied two ps3s also.Comment

A 2005 plasma should have the minimum amount of boards in it. The z will give a very dim goofy picture. Bad y can sometimes give a dim picture, but mostly no picture.
You need to check v
If these are hybrid ic y and z you will hear them running or fireing and they will be warm and/or hot.

i ordered the y board and the color improved but pic stayed dim so i ordered the other one and will put it on tomorrow.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Hi,
I have this almost brand new Plasma was well stored. I would like to repair it for a friend of mine.
I have noticed that it works for few seconds then switches Off the Power_ On signal. Have disconnected boards and left maion board and power supply and still the same. The power supply with PS_ON and VA signals On stays on so it is not a problem in the power supply.
