    Sony KDE-42XS955

This is a update to my last update...I got a another Tv its a Sony KDE-42XS955. It has great picture and sound. The only problem is, there is a vertical line on the right side of the screen. It take up a small portion of the screen about 6 to 7 inches.. I took some pictures of it with my camera phone and I posted it below. When I called Sony, they told me to reset the Tv back to the factory setting. But the only way to do that is with the remote which the Tv did not come with one. But I don't think setting this Tv back to the factory settings will fix this problem...Does anyone know what could cause this. I think Sony was trying to tell me that the screen was to large or something like that...

That appears to be a bad plasma panel.

I'm pretty sure he means - not economically repairable. Unless you have the same exact panel laying around, this may just be a wall decoration. Hold on, it lights up so it may be a night light.

          Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
          by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
