HI everyone Pick up this 55" VIZIO tv that only plays in black and white picture doesn't matter what inputs HDMI or apps, but all the menus are in color, if you're on Netflix everything in color until you play any show. I'm thinking main board if so, can the board be reflowed to try and correct this?

hmm... press the picture mode button on the TV remote and go through all of them settings. Some report having luck just by flashing the latest firmware on it and fixing the issue. check the hdmi ports on the main board.Last edited by CapLeaker; 12-30-2022, 08:51 PM.Comment

I've went through all the picture menus no change, I would like to try to flash the latest firmware but I’m not sure where to find it or how to flash it to this TV. as I’m not seeing a firmware update Area anywhere in the menu any help on this will be greatly appreciated itLast edited by yankys; 01-01-2023, 12:53 PM.Comment

Would an HDMI IC affect in-app video playback as well?
OP says it doesn't matter what the source is.
At first glance I figured its the BGA IC on the mainboard. Ive read somewhere how a visible degradation of picture quality when it comes to to perform high resolution video playback is one symptom that the BGA IC is having issues.Comment

It's a known issue, it's unlikely to be the same BGA ball(s) cracking every time, leaving the menus in colour but the video in B&W.
With a minimal description of testing and no photo of the mainboard it was an educated guess. If Netflix is through the app and not HDMI then I guess it isn't the HDMI IC.Comment

Yes Netflix thru the app and any app on the TV is in color you can scroll through the menu apps in color but as soon as you play a program it turns to black and whiteComment

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

My Asus laptop started flickering from time to time and more and more in last months. First the screen was going black but sometimes if I moved the screen it would work again, other times I needed to plug/unplug the laptop or close and open the lid to make it work again.
In last days I see that if I move the laptop lid to about 45 degrees it will flicker or get white or black screen(it's random, sometimes white sometimes flickers etc). I was trying to troubleshoot it myself but seems like it's either the cable or the display....10-24-2023, 09:39 AM -

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.
When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.
I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped... -

I have a Dell G15 ryzen edition (ryzen 5) that turns on but won't post, black screen, keyboard lights on, caps lock led on, fans turns and the battery indicating light is showing 2amber and 1 white according to dell website it's a cpu failure, but i tried few basic things before i open it up i tested the screen by pressing the d button before powering it up but it didn't show anything i tried the ctrl+esc for bios recovery but still black screen i tried refreshing the screen, i plugged it on an external monitor but same thing. Next step i unplugged the battery and kept pressing the... -
So I have a Vizio M3d550kde around 2011 per date on a sub board. The tv works well except that the input on HDMI inputs 1-4 are all displayed in black and white - (other inputs not tested and unknown if they are good or not.) -where the menu selection and initiation screen show full fine color. I was thinking ok fine Main board replacement, but then I thought wait a minute, the menu display comes from the Main board. Any thoughts or suggestion for repair?
I did a factory reset just to make sure someone didn't change a setting that would allow this weird behavior from the tv.
